Cheetos are life!

Elijah is working on crawling. He’s doing awesome with that. He spends a ton of time on the floor. He is also working on his verbal skills. He is now saying ba ba. He has been discharged from pulmonary.

Some of you know, others don’t. We’re moving back to Florida! We’re closing on our new home in two weeks. We need to be closer to family and have better resources for Elijah when it comes to therapy and such. We’re not getting that here. We’re also moving to be able to spend more time outdoors and doing all the things. We’re looking forward to new beginnings.

I’m on top of the world right now!!! Elijah has had issues with texture. He hasn’t tolerated eating much of anything. Today we decided to try a Cheeto. He actually took it to his mouth and ate it.

It’s been some time since I have made a post. I apologize for that. Elijah is doing amazing!!! He now weighs 15lbs 8 oz. He is 15 months old (11 months adjusted) and he is thriving. He is seeing a physical therapist and feeding therapist. He took a regression with his feeding and stopped eating solids. We’re back working on that. He’s about a 5 month old developmentally with his verbal and psychical skills. We’re ok with that. That’s typical for a preemie of his age. He loves to play with his toys and loves his jumper the most. We try to keep him on the floor to play and roll around as much as we can. He is off of formula now and drinking whole milk!!!! He really loves that! He is making progress with holding his sippy cup. He’s come such a long way and we’re so proud of him!!!

Sorry it’s been a while since I’ve given an update. Our home was hit with the Flu this past week. Thankfully, we’re all vaccinated. Elijah is feeling much better today. He hasn’t ran a fever since about 5:00 am yesterday. He did go to the doctor and get on Tamiflu which has helped so so much!

Elijah is almost 15 lbs now. He has gotten very tall. He loves to play on the floor with his toys. He can now roll over both ways and has started to try and crawl. He is also working on sitting up independently. He’s doing awesome with that. He is still so very sweet and loving. I enjoy having my cuddles with him and him pulling me to him. He melts me!

Elijah had his first snow day. He wasn’t too thrilled with the snow. He’d rather be inside where it’s toasty.

We hope you all had a wonderful and Merry Christmas! Elijah enjoyed his. He got a few books, a LeapPad and a talking cactus. Then he promptly passed out. He tried mashed potatoes and dressing again, he liked the flavor but not the consistency. He gagged a lot. Now he is sucking on his toes and watching his tv shows. Merry Christmas from Elijah and his family!

Elijah and I recently spent two wonderful days in Atlanta for his follow-up appointments, and I’m thrilled to share some amazing news about his progress!

His first appointment was with the incredible Dr. Carney for his post-op checkup, and Elijah has officially been cleared! He now weighs 14 lbs 9 oz. Afterward, we spent the night at the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), which holds such a special place in our hearts. They even had a magical Christmas shop, where we enjoyed some festive shopping and spent time with the kind and caring staff. Elijah had an absolute blast playing with the check-in lady and Sarah, and of course, getting spoiled by his RMHC “grandma,” Marsha. She’s been with us throughout our three-month journey and was overjoyed to see him again. She danced with Elijah and showered him with love, giving me a chance to enjoy a delicious dinner. After his fun-filled day, Elijah was so tuckered out that he slept from 7:45 p.m. until 8:30 a.m.!

The next day, we visited his pulmonologist, who gave us more great news—Elijah no longer needs Pulmicort breathing treatments! The doctor was so impressed with his progress and plans to see him again in six months. If all continues to go well, Elijah may be officially discharged from his care. While we’re still waiting for the results of his recent sleep study to confirm that he’s completely off oxygen, Elijah has already transitioned to breathing on his own. It’s such a huge milestone for him, and we’re so proud of how far he’s come!

I also want to take a moment to highlight the incredible impact of the Ronald McDonald House Charities. They provide families with a safe place to stay, warm meals, hot showers, and most importantly, endless love and support during difficult times. RMHC truly became our second home, and their generosity made an indescribable difference in our journey.

This amazing work is made possible by the kindness of others. Donations, whether in the form of time, meals, personal care items, or monetary contributions, allow RMHC to continue offering this life-changing support to families in need. If you’ve ever stayed at an RMHC, you know just how much of a blessing they are. If you feel moved to help, here’s a link to donate: https://rmhc.org/donate?c_src=paid&c_src2=24AORPMsearch_google&utm_campaign=skag&utm_medium=google&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiA34S7BhAtEiwACZzv4XcEiyL7YAohEWX6w4HAlI5MNiHGN-m_zkVtnn26g4WjURTGLAJDnRoCoAQQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of Elijah’s journey. Your love and support mean the world to us!
