A Little Backstory on East Ohio Regional Hospital

When we first walked into East Ohio Regional Hospital, what we found was worse than most people realize. The billing system was broken to the point where claims could sit for weeks before they even left the building. When they finally got processed, the hospital was getting paid about 17 cents on the dollar. Payer contracts hadn’t been updated since the Alecto days, and the chargemaster, the master list of prices, was full of gaps and bad numbers.

We pulled in the right people to fix it, former UnitedHealthcare experts, healthcare technology pros, and operators who know how to turn a place around. The old computer systems are being replaced with modern platforms that actually work. Staff are being retrained, and we’ve kept the key people who still know the hospital inside and out.

We’ve been in constant contact with the Ohio Department of Health and DNV to get our licensing in order. The CHOW is filed, the 855A is nearly ready, and we’re on track to open a clinic ahead of the full hospital restart so patients can start getting care here again. We’ve also secured relationships with critical vendors like Quidel Ortho, Radon, and our GPO partners to make sure we launch strong.

We are not done yet.

We are in the process of updating systems, renegotiating payer contracts, restoring proper pricing, and putting the right infrastructure in place so, when the hospital reopens, it runs right and stays that way.

Over the next few days, we’ll share more on the progress, the people involved, and what comes next for the community.
