National Home Care and Hospice Month is this month and this is the ideal time to learn more about Panhandle Home Health and the important services that we typically don’t think about until we need them. No one expects to need home care services, but what a relief to know this type of care is available – whether it’s for you or a family member – right here in your community!

Panhandle Home Health provides personalized medical and supportive services in a patient's home, offering benefits like greater independence, improved quality of life, and reduced hospital visits. It is not limited to the elderly and can include skilled nursing, therapy, and aide assistance for various conditions, making it a cost-effective and convenient alternative to institutional care.

Benefits of home health care

β€’ Enhanced quality of life: Patients can stay in a familiar environment with family and pets, maintain daily routines, and receive social and emotional support, which can improve overall well-being.
β€’ Improved health outcomes: Services can help prevent avoidable hospital admissions by monitoring conditions at home and providing professional support. This can lead to a reduced risk of hospital readmission and mortality.
β€’ Increased independence: Home health care can help individuals regain independence by teaching them to navigate their home environment and by providing assistance with daily tasks like bathing, dressing, and personal care.
β€’ Personalized and flexible care: Care plans are tailored to the individual's specific needs, and services can be scheduled on the patient's own time, offering more flexibility than a hospital setting.
β€’ Cost savings: Avoiding hospital stays and delaying or preventing nursing home placement can result in significant cost savings for patients.
β€’ Support for caregivers: Home health care provides relief for family caregivers by helping with tasks and offering a break, which is crucial for their own well-being.

As we prepare for Thanksgiving and recall our many gifts, please remember the home care professionals in our community who make a difference every day for our loved ones. They make it possible for the healing to begin at home.

πŸŽ‰ Happy 4-Year Anniversary, Caroline!

"Home Health is like no other patient care setting. The past 4 years at PHHI I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know my patients and develop personal relationships by providing in-home care. Many of our patients are recovering from surgery, had a recent hospitalization or physical decline, and it's a daily blessing to assist in their rehabilitation to improve their mobility, give them their independence, and return them to the community. I am thankful to be a part of the PHHI team, where excellent patient care is top priority. " β€” Caroline

Thank you, Caroline, for four incredible years of dedication, compassion, and heart. Your commitment continues to inspire us all. πŸ’™

Panhandle Home Health has received a grant from the First United Community Dreams Foundation in the sum of $2,500.00 for it’s Pathways to Professional Growth Program.

Lisa Bivens stated, β€œwe were thrilled to receive a grant from First United representatives, Denise Hess and Brett Butler to launch this strategic initiative.”

The Professional Growth program is designed to strengthen the home health workforce by investing in the development of both clinical and non-clinical staff. The program will provide tuition reimbursement, continuing education support, and certification assistance to current and newly hired employees. These efforts are aimed at improving employee retention, attracting qualified professionals, and addressing care gaps caused by ongoing workforce shortages. β€œOur ultimate goal is to build a more stable, skilled workforce capable of delivering high-quality care to residents of West Virginia’s Eastern Panhandle.”
