A Senior Retreat had an extra dose of joy this week thanks to a very special (and very fluffy) visitor — Copei, one of our staff member's sweet pups! 💛

Copei stole the show with his adorable tricks, gentle spirit, and of course, those puppy-dog eyes that had everyone reaching for the treat jar. 🍪👀 Our friends loved showering him with love, belly rubs, and lots of goodies. It’s safe to say he was the goodest boy and the highlight of the day!

Fall is here, and we’re already getting into the cozy spirit! 🍂🥧

At Bake Club today, we made an old-fashioned oatmeal pie with friends — and wow, it tasted like autumn in a bite. Sweet, simple, and so comforting.
Nothing better than baking with good company and getting excited for sweater weather and warm desserts. 🍁🧡

FSSA relaunches Money Follows the Person

The Bureau of Disabilities Services is pleased to announce the relaunch of the Money Follows the Person effective September 1,2025. Indiana’s Money Follows the Person is an enhanced federally funded demonstration through the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to assist qualifying individuals in moving from institutions to return to their community of choice.

The MFP program was developed to help states move individuals from institutional settings to home-and community-based settings of their choice. Money Follows the Person has been funded to support 345 waiver slots across the PathWays for Aging waiver, the Health & Wellness waiver, and the Community Integration and Habilitation waiver between now and the end of calendar year 2025.

Individuals interested in Indiana’s Money Follows the Person Program should contact their local BDS office and/or local AAA for additional information and steps to apply.

At A Senior Retreat, we believe that the words we use matter. That’s why we don’t call the people we serve “clients” — we call them friends.

To us, friendship represents connection, dignity, and mutual respect. Our space is more than just a program — it’s a community. Every person who walks through our doors brings a lifetime of experiences, stories, and wisdom. They’re not here for a transaction. They’re here to belong, to be seen, and to enjoy meaningful moments with others who truly care.

“Client” sounds clinical and distant. But “friend” reflects the heart of who we are — a place where relationships come first, where laughter is shared, and where every individual matters.

Because here, you’re not just a number on a schedule.
You’re a friend — and you’re family.
