Welcome Coach Petrossi!
Matthew Petrossi joins the Martinsville Mustangs as Pitching Coach, bringing extensive coaching, recruiting, and playing experience at the collegiate and summer league levels. He is currently in his third season as the Pitching Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Monroe Community College in Rochester, New York, where he works closely with the Tribunes’ pitching staff and oversees recruiting efforts. Prior to MCC, he spent one season as the pitching coach at SUNY Oneonta.
Over the past two summers, Petrossi served as manager in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League with the Watertown Rapids and Auburn Doubledays, leading both teams to playoff appearances. During his time with Watertown, he guided the Rapids to a postseason victory. His experience in the PGCBL provides him with a strong background in head coaching, player development, and recruiting, all of which he brings to the Mustangs’ coaching staff.
A native of Fairport, New York, Petrossi began his collegiate playing career at Monroe Community College, helping lead the Tribunes to two consecutive NJCAA World Series appearances as a pitcher. He later spent a season at the University of Pikeville (NAIA) in Kentucky before transferring to SUNY Oneonta following a COVID-shortened season. He completed his playing career at Oneonta while earning a bachelor’s degree in history and political science and is currently working toward a master’s degree in Sports Management through SUNY Cortland.
