🎄 Home for the Holidays 🎄
Michelle came to The Waters of Martinsville on November 1, 2025, for therapy and IV antibiotics after an infected hip muscle caused significant pain and multiple falls at home. Being away from her family was difficult, and at first, Michelle was understandably homesick and eager to return home as soon as possible.
After reassurance from our care team that healing would improve mobility, pain control, and completion of her antibiotics, Michelle agreed to stay — and soon realized it was the right decision. As her comfort grew, so did her motivation.
Through consistent physical and occupational therapy, Michelle made incredible progress. What once felt impossible became achievable again. She went from fearing she would need a hospital bed and have to move to the main floor of her home, to regaining full independence!
At discharge a month later, Michelle was:
✔️ Independent with all ADLs and mobility
✔️ Walking long distances with a wheeled walker and using a cane in therapy
✔️ Climbing 15 steps to reach her upstairs bedroom
✔️ Making her bed and getting herself ready without assistance
✔️ Experiencing significantly reduced pain
Today, Michelle is heading home for the holidays, able to sleep in her own bed and return to the life she loves — with no special equipment needed!
As she shared with our team,
“I couldn’t have done any of this without all of you.”
Stories like Michelle’s remind us why we do what we do. We are honored to have been part of her journey and wish her continued strength and comfort at home this holiday season. ❤️🏡🎁
