Overseeing the implementation of programs in the areas of wellness, disease prevention, and health care access and coordination. Initially funded through a 5 year, $4.5 million grant from the Harvest Foundation, the Martinsville Henry County Coalition for Health and Wellness began operations in April 2005. The Coalition is committed to providing medical and primary health services at Bassett Family Practice and Ridgeway Family Health - our Federally Qualified Health Centers - dental services at the Community Dental Clinic and to promoting health, reducing health risk factors and increasing access to medical services, primarily for the uninsured and underserved in the Martinsville Henry County area. In 2021, the Board of Directors and Leadership staff recognized that the addition of new services and clinics had helped the Martinsville Henry County Coalition for Health and Wellness grow and develop into a more dynamic and innovative organization, and that the branding and names of yesteryear no longer fit the organization. It was determined that a new name and complete rebrand would help improve and simplify the process of patient access for the organization’s clinics. In 2023, after much research conducted and time and effort put forth by the Board of Directors and the Leadership staff, the Martinsville Henry County Coalition for Health and Wellness was rebranded as Connect Health + Wellness. This health center is a Health Center Program grantee under 24 U.S.C. 254b, and a deemed Public Health Service employee under 42 U.S.C. 233(g)-(n). This health center receives HHS funding and has Federal Public Health Service (PHS) deemed status with respect to certain health or health-related claims, including medical malpractice claims, for itself and its covered individuals.

We love bringing care directly to campus and supporting the health of the Laurel Park Middle School community. We’ll be here until noon today, helping LPMS students and staff stay healthy, focused and ready to learn.

Our Story

Initially funded through a 5 year, $4.5 million grant from the Harvest Foundation, the Martinsville Henry County Coalition for Health and Wellness began operations in April 2005. The Coalition is committed to providing medical and primary health services at Bassett Family Practice and Ridgeway Family Health – our Federally Qualified Health Centers – and to promoting health, reducing health risk factors and increasing access to medical services, primarily for the uninsured and underserved in the Martinsville-Henry County area.

The Health Connect Center is also operated by the Coalition and is commonly referred to as a “one-stop shop” for individuals in MHC who need help breaking through barriers to health and wellness.

Bassett Family Practice and Ridgeway Family Health are Health Center Program grantees under 24 U.S.C. 254b, and a deemed Public Service employee under 42 U.S.C. 233(g)-(n).
