Here at Ranken Jordan, our staff cares for children, teens, and adults with complex medical needs. Many of our patients' medical complexity includes an acquired or traumatic brain injury. Such unique circumstances often lead to many challenges and questions, not only for the individuals, but also for the loved ones and other caregivers who support them.

To fill this need, our world-class psychology team offers our brain injury support group! This open and compassionate space is a free resource for caregivers who are navigating these challenges and want to connect with other families! The group meets on site at Ranken Jordan and virtually on the second Tuesday of each month from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.

In 2022, the Ranken Jordan team put together a workgroup to help reduce tube dislodgements –a common but serious issue at pediatric hospitals– and improve health outcomes for medically complex children.

🎉Thanks to our staff's hard work in creating play-based interventions, Ranken Jordan reduced patient tube dislodgements by nearly 50%! 🥳

When a tracheostomy tube becomes dislodged, it leads to a medical emergency that requires immediate action. Sometimes tubes fall out by accident, but often times, young children pull them out for attention. By bringing together a multidisciplinary team that apply our approach, we focused on solutions rooted in safety, engagement, and play.

We don't wait on for love and fellowship at Ranken Jordan! 💕

Our artists‑in‑residence, Julie and Scarlett, recently led a therapeutic art activity for all staff. Using the same adaptive techniques that make art accessible for all of our patients, nurses, social workers, and therapist alike created unique and beautiful Valentines! 🎨💗

Just as artistic expression provides a safe outlet for our patients to share their emotions, it’s just as important for our staff to have wonderful opportunity for connection and fellowship.

We are grateful to the Arthur and Helen Baer Charitable Foundation for funding therapeutic art at Ranken Jordan!❤🥰

A look back to this unforgettable activation day when Chris Pronger, Lauren Pronger, and Louie from the St. Louis Blues brought pure joy to Ranken Jordan! 🥳🏒

Suited up as Superman and Superwoman, the Prongers welcomed more than 40 of our patients into the TinySuperheroes “Super Squad,” complete with personalized capes and patches honoring each child’s heroic journey. 🦸‍♂️💪
