Happy ! A year ago, a teenager named Carson was in a devastating car accident. Doctors warned his family that if he woke up, he may never walk, speak, or be aware of the life around him again.

Months later, after hearing his mom say "I love you," Carson whispered the words back.

"I love you."

Today, Carson is home. He is walking with assistance, talking, attending school, going to prom, shooting basketballs, and spending time with friends. He is getting to live the life his family once feared might be lost.

Stories like Carson's are why Give STL Day matters. Because of supporters like you, kids are given the time, care, and encouragement they need - even when the road is long.

Did you know that after leaving the hospital, families of medically complex children often run into issues securing critical medical equipment because of insurance issues, high costs, and children outgrowing items?

That's why two Ranken Jordan therapists have been volunteering with local nonprofit, St. Louis Help, to support the organizing and lending of used medical equipment to families in need! This partnership has helped reduce stress for our caregivers by getting them the right equipment to ensure children–and their families–thrive at home after the hospital.

Read more on our website: rankenjordan.org/stl-help-work-partnership/

If you have used medical equipment, please come to the equipment drive we are hosting with STL Help from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Ranken Jordan.

We’re honored to see the powerful story of one of our former patients, JT Thomas, featured in Sports Illustrated’s Highschool on SI!

Writer Levi Peyton shares how JT is "redefining what it means to winā€ after a devastating spinal cord injury ended JT’s high school football career. While at Ranken Jordan, JT discovered mouth painting as part of our therapeutic art program. JT has continued painting and his resilience and determination continue to inspire everyone around him.

JT’s story is an example of the power of our Care Beyond the Bedside approach. Finding an activity a patient can connect with can make a huge difference in their healing journey.
