A black squirrel, a hometown story and a lot of good comments.

Yesterday we featured Shirley, the squirrel statue that honors Shirley Little and her years at AR-EX Drug Store, now HealthFirst Pharmacy at 801 Broadway. We asked what makes a place feel like a true hometown business, and the responses all pointed to the same thing: people who know you, greet you and make you feel glad you came in.

Congratulations to Jillian Almaguer, recipient of the $20 gift certificate to HealthFirst Pharmacy.

Jillian wrote: “The people who work there! How they greet you when they see you!”

That fit Shirley just right.
