Total Health Chiropractic Total Health Chiropractic The ultimate turning point for him was when his family chiropractor saved his mom’s life.

Dr. Skylar Bakko went to chiropractic school at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa and graduated cm laude in February 2012. Since earning his Doctor of Chiropractic, he completed hours of study on Brain-Based Wellness, including Quantum Neurology, Applied Kinesiology, Developmental Functional Neurology, Neuro Emotional Technique, and Beyond Functional Medicine. Awarded the Katman D

octor of the Year award in 2022, Dr. Skylar Bakko has dedicated his life to helping those suffering from pain and chronic illness. She had been experiencing fatigue, weight gain, poor sleep, digestive problems, muscle pains, hair loss and many others. His mother was first misdiagnosed with having an infection and their chiropractor detected a potential problem with her thyroid. It was later discovered that his mom had thyroid cancer. Thankfully, it was found early enough, and after a few medical procedures, she was cancer-free. It was at that moment in his life that he chose to become a natural healer. The whole purpose of our clinic is to be a beacon of hope for the community in need. Its purpose is to not only help others maintain their health, but also to give life back to those who are suffering. He is continuously striving to improve the techniques and technology he uses in his clinic and believes in the three main principles of alternative healing: we are born with a divine intelligence, which is the intelligence to self-regulate and self-heal; the body should be maintained and healed using natural methods; and when love and skill are combined expect a masterpiece. Dr. Bakko is thankful to have been blessed with the knowledge and skill to help people. Though the path can be challenging, he thrives in the ever-evolving learning experience that comes with treating rare diseases and chronic pain. For him, the best feeling in the world is knowing he has helped change someone’s life by restoring their own healing potential. Family is also an important part of his life and he cherishes the relationships he has with his parents and sisters. He is happily married to his wife Susy and together they have a gorgeous little girl. Dr. Bakko is an avid sports fan and enjoys playing soccer, bowling, playing the drums, fitness, and trying new cuisines. The Bakko Guarantee

More on cholesterol… watch out for seed oils. Found it in every bread and wrap I looked at in the store. Watch out for salad dressings and coffee creamers. There’s more but these are big ones most are likely using on a regular basis.

Fibromyalgia Revisited

A few years back I wrote an article about fibromyalgia and I thought I would revisit that topic after a conversation I had with someone recently while snowbirding in Florida.

There are five fairly common causes of fibromyalgia and I’ll list them from most common to least so here goes.

The most common cause of fibromyalgia is carbohydrate sensitivity. 1.Too many carbs in the diet, plain and simple. If you’re mildly overweight you should be eating 60 grams of carbohydrate daily or less. Normal weight individuals should be at 90 grams daily. This one rarely gets fixed because most people won’t give up their carbs. But you can do it if you want to really lose the pain.

2. Viral infections like CMV and Epstein-Barr virus. Sorry but most MD's ignore these. At the very least you should make sure your vitamin D level is above 63. It’s hard to get a virus at this level and you may even get rid of some. I’ve seen this work in the office multiple times.

3. Food sensitivity like dairy, gluten, fermented, and nightshades. Remove them one at a time for three weeks and see if your pain gets reduced or eliminated. Remember to try removing just one at a time for three weeks and observe any changes.

4. Thyroid and/or pituitary gland function that’s too low. Take Thyrostim from Biotics Research at one or two per meal. It has both thyroid and pituitary products in it.

5. As a last resort consider Lithium 500 to 750 mcg’s per day.

So when your cholesterol is “high” and you’re prescribed meds… the cholesterol (mostly) isn’t the problem… inflammation is the main problem… but it’s typically not checked on your labs… probably bc there’s not a medication to prescribe for it 🤷🏽. So we’re barking up the wrong tree and prescribing harmful meds blaming the wrong thing. If cholesterol meds are some of the most prescribed meds, but heart disease is still the #1 killer of Americans… maybe it’s because they don’t heal or prevent heart disease (bc they don’t). They may lower your cholesterol but that’s not a good thing. Don’t get sucked into the blanket statement that cholesterol is bad for you.

Next time you get labs, ask for markers like: CRP, Homocysteine, ox-LDL, Apo-B, a-LpA, pro-Bnp. These are more important for your heart. And if these are off, I’m still not using cholesterol lowering meds.

Alright I’ll get off my soap box about cholesterol… but before I do, here’s another

A large ecological analysis spanning data from 192 countries has been widely cited for observing that populations with higher average cholesterol levels often show longer life expectancy. Researchers note that cholesterol particularly in older adults plays complex and essential roles in hormone production, cell repair, and overall physiological resilience, rather than functioning as a simple health “villain.” That said, population-level patterns don’t replace individual medical assessment, and elevated LDL cholesterol or triglycerides remain well-established risk markers for cardiovascular disease under current clinical guidelines.
