I was shocked to see so many people show up to my first stretching class at my apartment complex this morning! The room was filled with people of all ages who wanted to help themselves ☺️

I don’t know why this new health and wellness trend took so long take off. After just 45 minutes of stretching, everyone in the room was loosey-goosey and felt so much better. Imagine what consistent stretching could do for you. I wish more people would give it a shot because it’s not just for people who workout. Here are some of the benefits:

Decreases your risk of injury

I know some of you might want to lose weight and that’s awesome.
But let’s get real for a minute - why do you really want to lose weight? No one puts “lose weight” on their resolution list every January just for the heck of it.
Let’s find the real reason this goal is important to you with the “5 Why Game.” For example...
Q: What is your goal?
A: To lose weight.
Q: But why?
A: Maybe it’s because you want to look sexy naked
Q: Ok, but why is that important?
Then ask why again. And again. And AGAIN. Usually when you have answered “why” for the fifth time, you’ll get to the real reason why you’re here. And that’s the answer we really need to know because it’s the root of the mission. You can use the “5 Why Game to help you dig deeper.
No one's going to put in the work that’s required to lose weight and keep it off just for the sake of losing weight. They're going to do it because they hate feeling uncomfortable when they see their friends or family they haven’t seen in a while; they hate feeling embarrassed in a swim suit; they want to reduce the amount of weight on their joints so they aren’t in pain.
Keep your why at the forefront of your mind when you’re pursuing weight loss. It’ll be the driving force that keeps you going when you get frustrated, tired, and pi**ed off at the process. And then every time the apathy monster rears its ugly head, remind yourself WHY you’re doing it in the first place.
Why is weight loss and fat loss worth it to you? I'm curious to see all the different reasons.

Look - stuff is gonna happen. Things won't go according to plan.
You'll plan to wake up at 6am to fit in a 30 minute workout and then the baby wakes up early. You'll get ready to go to the gym but then you’re car won’t start (me last week)
You'll workout but then...
Almost every day will have a "but then" moment. Be flexible. Not every workout is going to be a rockstar workout - and that's okay. That's not the purpose. The purpose is to continually show up for yourself and do the best you can in that moment.
If you have to cut it short - that's okay. If you have to move it to tomorrow - that's okay. If you have to include the kids during - that's okay.
Look for ways to make it work instead of just giving in to the unpredictability.
Make adjustments and modifications. Just find a way to show up anyhow.
Because if we are always waiting for the perfect opportunity, we’re never going to do it. Knowing what your life is like - how can you be flexible with your workouts? Share your ideas below.

I had no idea what to do at the gym when I started going on my own because in high school, my coaches always told me what to do. I didn’t have to worry about burning calories on my own since I had practices or games all the time.
I definitely didn’t go to the gym enough to cover my cost for my monthly membership, but when I did go I’d spend most of my time on the treadmill trying to talk myself into getting out on the floor.
I followed workouts on Instagram, but I never saw any results because 99% of it is fake and none of it is personalized.
My workouts now are COMPLETELY different from the Instagram workouts I wasted months on before I got certified in Personal Training. Knowing what I actually needed to be doing helped me see and feel results faster than before.

Seems like the easy way out, right? And sure it’s possible.
Of course, you can lose fat without exercise -not by utilizing all the ridiculous pills and replacements available out there, but simply by creating a calorie deficit plan.
Diet is the most important factor to fat loss. You’ve probably heard it a million times, and it’s absolutely true.
But eating in a large enough deficit to make a difference is actually pretty hard. If you can create a further deficit by working out it will aid in your fat loss. Plus, exercise has soooo many health benefits beyond weight loss. Benefits like --- reducing risk of injury; getting stronger; building lean muscle, increased energy; improved mental health; increased metabolism; etc.

2. How long have you been wanting it, trying to get it, or wishing for it
I watched $25 disappear from my bank account month after month before I cancelled my membership at Planet Fitness. Obviously, I had good intentions to get the results I wanted, but I never actually had the dedication to go.
You know why I let it go on for so long? Because $25 isn’t that big of a deal.
My clients are in the gym 2,3,4x every single week despite the fact that before they signed up, they hadn’t been to a gym in several months, or even years. You could ask them why they never miss a day and their first answer won’t be some crap about showing up for themselves. It’s, “Because I’m paying good money for this!” …and it’s more than $25 to hire someone to work for you.
These people realized they wanted to achieve their fitness goals so bad and have for too long.

Build muscle first. It helps you lose fat quicker so you can "tone up."
