Hey there! Its me! (Laura). I just wanted to share a new (finally!!!) update from this journal. Some of you/us may consider and choose an IUD for either contraception or for period control. Previously, most healthcare providers offered little or no options for the pain and discomfort that could come with this procedure. While some women have very minimal discomfort, is absolutely vital that these options are offered to all. If you choose this procedure and your current provider does not offer pain control, you could use this journal to back up your request. I hope you are all out there living life to the fullest!

I hope each and everyone of you is well and that your families are thriving! I can finally share an official update. Let me first say what an honor it has been getting to know you all. As I look back on your births, I am reminded how lucky I was to have been able to have played a small part in each of them! Thank you all!
My new role has finally started (after a long, long wait) and it will be a different one for me. I will be working at a hospital in St. Louis in a department that is like an ER for pregnant women. At this time, I will only get to catch babies when someone comes in and gives birth unexpectedly. I won’t have office hours to see my own patients. While this makes me somewhat sad, Ifeel like this is the right role for me right now. I will be home with my boys each night and off in the evening and on weekends so that I can spend every moment of free time cheering them on at sporting and music events. These years truly go way too fast and I need to soak them up.
It is possible that there will be growth for midwife services in the coming years and I promise to update you when and if that happens! I miss you all!

While I’m waiting to find the perfect job, I’ve decided to offer nanny, baby sitter, postpartum helper, goodnight nanny services. Are you or your partner returning to work or having trouble finding childcare? Do you just need to get a few solid hours of sleep while someone looks after your little one and helps with light household chores? Need a few hours out of the house and don’t have a sitter? I won’t know more for a few weeks because other candidates still have to interview. But my fingers are crossed that I will be able to share good news in the near future!

Happy New Year!! I’ve been using my time wisely (lol)! I wanted my kids to play this but they were not interested. So I did it myself!! It’s been YEARS since I played or read music. I hope I can put a smile on your face!! Maybe don’t have your volume up very much?

Hi all. Not a birth story. But we will call it a birthday story because today is my birthday.
I’m not sure what to say. I’m no longer employed where you met me. I was told yesterday at the end of the day. I had no idea. I was told that I did nothing wrong and was leaving in good standing. I don’t want to say anything bad or negative about the office. I learned so much and worked alongside some fantastic women. And I got to meet you all!
I’m scrolling back through my posts looking at your beautiful families with tears running down my cheeks. I fear that I’m letting down those of you who are nearing the end of your pregnancies. I feel like I’m abandoning you. I promise that I was not given a choice. Please know that you can do this and you don’t need me! You have what it takes. Please advocate for yourself and make your wishes and preferences known in your birth and every aspect of your healthcare.
As for now, I’m taking the weekend to rest and recover. (And get my kids to indoor soccer). I’m hoping to resume my career very soon and very close. Wishing us all a wonderful 2025 full of positivity and new opportunities!

Just wanted to share something that I did when my kids were little in case you’re looking for something similar. I used the crayola model magic and rolled it out flat. I made a footprint and a handprint and poked a hole in the top. I also gently carved their names in the back so I could tell them apart. When they dried I threaded some ribbon through the hole. These are my absolute favorite ornaments and I take pictures every year of my boys placing them on the tree. I hope everyone out there has the opportunity to make some magical memories with their little ones this year!
