Have you ever heard of SafeSpot ? They are a hotline that spots individuals using that can call for help if there is an overdose.
"We are staffed by a dedicated team of people with lived and living experience with overdose and drug use.
The number one risk factor for fatal overdose is using alone and we are there for you when others cannot be. We connect people who are using drugs with a trained operator who can call for help in case of overdose.
This is not a recovery or treatment helpline; we are committed to your safety and confidentiality and provide this service to anyone who is at risk of overdose."

A recent article in The New Bedford Light reports that opioid‐related overdose deaths in Massachusetts dropped by 36 % in 2024- the lowest level since 2013!

However- the article also raises a stark warning: state and federal funding are not keeping pace with rising demand for treatment, harm reduction, and recovery services. As Medicaid cuts loom, even more people could lose access to vital care.

What does that mean for us? It means that grassroots efforts like ours become even more essential. Support your local harm-reduction centers! 💜

As the nights get colder, our unhoused and at-risk neighbors face greater danger from illness, frostbite, and exposure.

That’s why we’re working to assemble and distribute more of our Blessing Bags filled with essential winter and harm reduction supplies, including:

🧣 Warm clothing and blankets
🔥 Hand warmers
😷 Masks and hygiene items
🩹 Wound care supplies
💉 Fentanyl and xylazine test strips
💜 And other vital tools to stay safe and healthy through the cold months
