**In Loving Memory of Linda Hickey**

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved longtime administrative assistant, Linda Hickey. Linda dedicated many years of her life to the Mashpee Fire Department, serving with exceptional attention to detail, boundless compassion, and an unwavering love for our members.

Linda was more than just an administrative assistant; she was the heart of our department. When she wasn’t managing the schedules of the Chief and Deputy Chief from her desk, you could find her at the day room table, sharing laughter and camaraderie with our firefighters. Her quick wit, motherly intuition, and friendly demeanor were not just appreciated—they were cherished. Linda was a constant, a staple in our daily routine, and her presence brought comfort and joy to everyone around her.

Since her retirement in 2018, her absence has been profoundly felt, a testament to the impact she had on all of us. The phone directory still bears her extension, a poignant reminder of the warmth and support she provided. Linda's legacy will forever remain in our hearts, and she will be deeply missed by all of us who had the privilege to know her.

Dear Friends, Family, and Community,

Mashpee’s Professional Firefighters’ Union is writing to you today with a very heavy heart. Recently, we shared that one of our own was diagnosed with Stage 3 Melanoma. Due to legal language, he was left diagnosed but uncovered by any “job-related” safeguards. Because of this, this member has been receiving advanced immunotherapy treatment and STILL WORKING.

Despite the best efforts by Dana Farber, a recent PET scan revealed that the cancer has spread.

This news has been a shock to all of us as we hoped to be more than halfway through recovery by now. Due to this development, the care team has developed an extremely robust and potent treatment plan that will undoubtedly leave this member unable to work through treatment and long into his recovery.

As you can imagine, this diagnosis has brought about significant emotional and practical challenges. In addition to the physical and emotional toll, we are also anticipating extensive medical bills.

Mashpee Local 2519 is humbly asking the public for their continued monetary help and support in an ongoing effort to offset medical expenses. Any assistance you can offer, big or small, will make a tremendous difference during this difficult time. We recognize and appreciate all the support we have received previously and hope that you’ll consider supporting our member again.

Tonight Local 2519 held our 2nd annual Christmas Party! To kick off the evening we honored and recognized FF/EMT N. Trioli (SPC, US Army) for his continued service deployed overseas.

We also recognized the retirements of FF/P James Hall (19 years of Service) & FF/EMT Frank Nunes (19 years of Service).

Special recognition was given to Call/FF Rick Trask for his continued service to the department during emergency situations. (32+ years of service).

Thank you to our membership and their families for making all of this possible.

We wish everyone Happy Holidays and very safe new year to all!
