MEET SHANNON SCHAEFFER, LMHC!!

Shannon is a licensed mental health professional dedicated to helping individuals navigate mental health challenges and life transitions with compassion and purpose. She works collaboratively with clients to uncover meaning, build resilience, and develop effective coping strategies for everyday life.

With experience addressing addiction, grief, depression, anxiety, and other DSM-5 diagnoses, Shannon utilizes a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches. These include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, and Mindfulness-based practices.

She believes that therapy begins with a strong, trusting relationship—one built on empathy, attentive listening, and respect. Shannon considers therapy a powerful gift and an opportunity for meaningful transformation.

For those who desire it, she also integrates spirituality into the therapeutic process to support holistic healing.

Join me Sunday for our Krya Class "The way of the Tao." This mean, the way of the way. It is the invitation to recognize that YOU are creator of your own life. YOU get to decide HOW you live. You are the only one that holds the power of your path. There is no "one" right way, no one path, and no one outside of you that knows your life path better than you.

Most of us have lost touch with our own internal GPS and have been conditioned to believe that something outside of ourselves has determined our life. We have been made to believe that others hold our answers or the truth that we seek. However, in this class we come to the "experiencing the experience of you within your body. This is the way of your way." You get to step into the author of your life story. YOU are the Self Author.

This means that we need to begin to give ourselves permission to become open, curious, and explore our own internal truth of how things FEEL. This self-sensing (interoception) is one of the most important skills that you can cultivate and harness within your life because it is this ability to feel that gives our lives richness and emotion. It fuels our purpose and our destiny. But that permission needs to be the key we use to take steps towards what our heart says, versus what others think we "should" do.

Come to this class to be able to define for yourself what your path is. There is no right path and no wrong path. YOU are your own path. In this is playfulness and Freedom. Join me and let's play and have fun!

Please bring: Yoga mat or blanket, cushion or small pillow for sitting, water, journal and pen and a camping chair or stool if you need additional support for being in seated positions. Please note that we do a lot of seated postures in our classes on the floor so bring whatever support you may need to be in these positions. I do have 2 sitting chairs available; however, I encourage you to bring your own if you have it :)

We are proud to welcome Tonya Davis as part of our Clinical team at Anastasi Counseling Services!

Tonya Davis is in the final stages of completing her internship in Mental Health Counseling. She is set to complete her master’s degree from Liberty University in December 2024. Tonya also holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Oklahoma State University.

Tonya has a strong, compassionate approach to her work, emphasizing empathy and collaboration in her client relationships. She works with individuals aged 13 and older, employing therapeutic modalities like person-centered therapy, solution-focused techniques, and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). Tonya is open to incorporating spirituality into her counseling approach, recognizing its potential to support healing and growth for some individuals. She strives to create a safe, non-judgmental environment that fosters trust and therapeutic progress.

Tonya’s clinical experience includes working with clients facing a range of challenges, including depression, anxiety, suicidality, ADHD, trauma, grief, relationship issues, and major life transitions. She is committed to providing a supportive, holistic approach to therapy, always focused on the unique needs and goals of her clients.

Outside of her professional life, Tonya has been married to her husband for 33 years. They live in the Mason City area and have three adult children, a son-in-law, a daughter-in-law, and five grandchildren—three granddaughters and two grandsons.
