Did you know we also do some interventional dentistry?

Some pups, like Butter Bean pictured here with our RVT intern Madi, have an abnormal bite pattern. His lower canines and incisors are digging into the hard palate (the roof of his mouth), keeping his jaw from growing as it should. He's young enough that removing these baby teeth could allow his mouth to grow normally so he will have a normal, healthy bite as an adult! It doesn't always fix all of the issues, as some genetic factors are involved, but he will be more comfortable until we can assess his adult teeth later.

Attention rabbit people!
Have you considered having your lagomorph vaccinated for hemorrhagic disease?

This vaccine has some special considerations, so we don’t always have it available. We have some, and we’re cracking it open on Monday, January 5th.
If your rabbit has not had this vaccine before, it will need to be boostered in 3 weeks.

Introducing Dr. Emily Kraft!

Dr. Kraft is a Clear Lake native who has spent some time experiencing the Great Smoky Mountains but has decided it’s time to come home. She enjoys wellness medicne iand preventative care, and is looking forward to spending more time on exotic animal medicine.

Our students have gone back to school, leaving the building feeling empty. We searched high and low to find someone to fill the void. Not only did we find someone, we found three someones!!

What does a kitten without a human do when she finds herself in need of assistance? Apparently she takes herself to AMH's parking lot and stands outside the door until someone notices! Everyone, meet Tahoe!

This is your annual reminder to contact us about your pets' storm or fireworks anxiety!

This time of year has the highest risk of animals running away or damaging themselves or their environment trying to get away from explosions and flashing lights. Things you can do to keep your pets safe:

-Update all microchip registrations and collar tags with current info.

-Check all leashes and ties for wear and tear, and replace any that are frayed or worn.

-Leave your pets home from the festivities. They really don't want to be there, and may defend themselves.

-Keep pets in an interior room, or close the curtains/blinds, turn on the lights, and play background music or white noise.

-Contact your veterinarian for a consultation if anxiety is increasing as time goes on. If you usually give your pets meds, please check early to see if you need refills.

Have a safe and enjoyable holiday, however you choose to celebrate!!
