This routine can be performed with a kung fu broadsword or a tai chi chuan saber sword, as either a kung fu set or a tai chi chuan set, depending on the particular demeanor or spirit one is performing it in. It has 42 techniques within the set. It is done in slightly different variations, depending on the sword. Matt is using a broadsword-like weapon and is performing it at medium speed so that students can use the video as a ready reference tool.

The Li Jia (family) Tai Chi Chuan 78. Instructor/student Matt performing the routine. This tai chi chuan set was added into the Li Jia repertoire in 1820. This is the 'teaching' version of the routine, a bit simplified for initial teaching purposes. It can be done with more difficult stances, i.e., more full 'cat' stances, 'crane' stances, and more kicking.
