The CDC recommends adults aged 65 and older receive two doses of the 2025-2026 COVID vaccine. National data shows summer COVID waves are now often larger than winter peaks. With cases usually rising in June and July, late May is the time to get protected. If you have not received a dose yet, you should schedule your first shot. If you received your first dose at least six months ago, you are now eligible for your second dose. Call 641-421-9300 or visit cghealth.com/services/immunizations to schedule your appointment.

Backyard play is safer with a plan in place. CG Public Health advises making a post-activity shower a household habit for children and pets after they spend time near brush or tall grass. It is an effective way to wash off unattached ticks and perform a quick skin check. Find the safety checklist at cghealth.com/ticks. If a tick is found, skip the home remedies and use fine-tipped tweezers for safe removal. 🛡️🧼👧

Ticks are currently looking for a host and they are not picky. Even a short walk near a tree line can lead to uninvited hitchhikers. Stay protected by using repellent and checking for ticks on gear and skin as soon as an activity ends. Visit cghealth.com/ticks for removal tips. Remember, a tick only needs one brush against tall grass to attach. 🕷️🚫🤢
