👻🎃 Can you believe it’s already time to dust off the Halloween books?! 📚✨
These spooky (but not too spooky 😉) stories are more than just fun—they’re amazing tools we use in speech therapy! 🗣💬
Here’s why we love them:
1️⃣ Repetitive phrases help little ones practice language + articulation (think: “open up!” “put it on!” “boo!”).
2️⃣ They spark inferencing skills—guessing what’s hiding behind the door or what costume an animal might choose.
3️⃣ Sequencing events builds storytelling skills (favorites like Room on the Broom and The Little Old Lady Who Wasn’t Afraid of Anything are perfect for this!).
4️⃣ And rhyming? 🎶 Such an important pre-reading + phonemic awareness skill!
Halloween books aren’t just for giggles—they’re packed with opportunities for growth in communication. 🧡
Do you have a favorite Halloween book you like to read with your little one? 📖👀

Such a good reminder of the building blocks to learning!

I've referenced this pyramid of learning many times! And it's been recently updated to include the interoception system.

Feel Good Friday:

💬✨ Asking questions is one of the most powerful tools we have for connection and relationships. But for some of our students, especially those who use spelling or other modes of communication, asking a question can take a lot of effort—it’s not just a single word, it’s holding a thought, spelling it out, and sharing it with the world.

This week, I asked one of my students, “If you could tell people anything about you, what would you want them to know?” He carefully spelled: “effort for each day.” 💛
What a beautiful reminder that behind every word is hard work, determination, and a story worth hearing. When we pause to ask and truly listen, we get a glimpse into the incredible worlds our students carry within them. 🌎💡

At BeYOUtiful Adventures in Speech, we love supporting children in finding their voice—whether through words, spelling, or other communication systems. If your child could use some extra support on their communication journey, we’re here to help! 🌟

So excited to try our new myomunchee. These are supposed to help with so many things including: jaw strength, lip closure, proper swallow pattern and nasal breathing. It’s quite a workout to chew for 10 minutes! Looking forward to seeing what results we can get!

I’m just loving these little farm creations everybody is making in speech. I had to share yet another one because I told him it looked like it must be so hot on the farm all the animals are melting! So much fall fun and language!

Feel Good Friday:

✨One of the BEST parts of speech therapy is when real, meaningful communication happens—and we get a peek into a child’s true thoughts!
This week I told a student his body language looked like he wasn’t interested in our lesson. He spelled back to me:

👉 “most not into plinking around not sitting still”

When I asked if my assumption was correct, he clarified:
👉 “No, your assumption is not correct.”

💡What a powerful reminder! Sometimes our bodies just need to move—and that doesn’t mean our brains aren’t ready to learn. We talked about how everyone has days where they feel more fidgety, and that’s okay.

🌟 The true gift is autonomy—the ability to recognize what your body needs and to communicate that clearly. That’s where the magic of communication lives. 💬✨

So excited to try the myo munchee as a home program for the very first time and see how it helps increase: neutral jaw position at rest, proper tongue movement for swallow, lip closure at rest, nasal breathing, and so much more! I think it is going to be a great addition to help support all the work we are doing to increase muscle movement in speech. Check it out at the link below 😁!

Our goal is to provide education to the public and practitioners about the long term impacts of poor oral health, lifestyle and underdeveloped jaws and how they affect future well being.

Got this awesome slime that smells like sprinkle donuts yesterday. Just got it out of the car and it’s warm and legit smells like fresh donuts! Talk about sensory fun! We will be hiding mini objects with our sounds in it. Can you guess what sound we will work on first? It’s in the beginning middle or end of all these items!

Another adorable farm made in speech. I love that this one is abstract. The piggy has eyes in the back of his head and the cow looks like a Picasso. This little one worked so hard on their words while making this! We had lots of good repetitive practice of jaw stability in “yeah I am” as I asked if we were ready for each piece to put on.
