Our Tour of the National VOA Broadcasting Museum 🇺🇸🎙️

Our residents spent the afternoon at the **National Voice of America Museum of Broadcasting** for a grand tour of the historic Bethany Station. First operational in 1944, this site was a critical Allied tool during World War II.

We learned how the VOA served as a primary channel for wartime information, broadcasting in dozens of languages to reach millions of listeners. By providing objective news, it countered N**i propaganda and fostered hope in occupied territories across the globe.

It was fascinating to see the technology that allowed a local station to project American values and truth during such a pivotal time.

A special thank you to the nonprofit team of volunteers and partners who keep this museum running!

As we lean into January’s theme of Play as Renewal, we are inviting everyone—residents, family members, and our hardworking staff—to take a moment of "creative pause."

We’ve set up a giant collaborative coloring sheet hangung in the community's room, and the transformation is already incredible! Our Artis Family Tree is beginning to look beautifully colorful as everyone contributes their unique creativity to its branches.

De-stress: Coloring is a proven way to lower the heart rate and calm the mind.
Connect: It’s a wonderful way to strike up a conversation with a neighbor or a friend.
Renew: Stepping away from the "to-do" list for a few minutes helps us return to our day with fresh energy.

After the bustle of the holidays, we’re leaning into what our minds and bodies naturally crave: light ☀️, laughter 🤣, and rhythm 🎶!​ ​

Throughout January, we’re exploring Play as Renewal – inviting residents, families and associates to reset through music and other multi-sensory experiences to ease stress and reawaken the rhythms that keep our days feeling bright and grounded.

Not many people can say they provided the live entertainment for their own 102nd birthday party. Rita can. 🎹

We celebrated with a room full of family, friends, and some very special music as Rita treated us all to a performance on the piano, proving that talent truly has no age limit.

She’s still "sharp" as ever and definitely knows how to "key" into our hearts! Happy Birthday to our favorite virtuoso. 🎶❤️

Rita Hart, a cherished member of the community, is celebrating an incredible milestone today - her 102nd birthday! 🎉 Born in Binghamton, New York, Rita has spent more than a century sharing her passion for the arts as a music teacher, dancer, and model, with music always at the heart of her life. Even today, she still plays the piano, spreading joy through every note. A proud USO drummer in her earlier years, Rita also used her talent to uplift service members and their families. Her remarkable life is a joyful celebration of creativity, service, and the beautiful truth that passion has no age limit. Happy Birthday, Rita!🎶✨
