We are seeing a lot of Fifth Disease going around, including teens and adults. Adults can have joint pains along with fever or rash.

Fifth disease, also called erythema infectiosum, is usually not a serious infection. Its most notable symptom is a bright red patch or rash on your child’s cheeks.

The Ingham County Health Department urges all residents to check their MMR vaccination status following a confirmed case of measles in a child.

"The child involved in this case had been appropriately vaccinated prior to traveling out of state. However, because the exposure occurred shortly after vaccination, there was not sufficient time for full immunity to develop. As a result, the illness has been relatively mild."

The best way to prevent measles is to get vaccinated!
