I was sitting waiting for my oil change this recently when a mom sat down across from me with her son. You could see the exhaustion on her face... the kind that goes deeper than just a bad night of sleep and a week vacation won't fix. Her little boy was on the spectrum and having a tough sensory morning. He seemed overwhelmed, restless, covering his ears every time a tool clanged in the garage. She handled it with so much patience, but you could tell she was running on empty. I really felt for this woman.
She quietly told a friend on the phone they’d already been to three appointments this month trying to figure out his gut issues and sleep struggles. “I just want one full night where he rests,” she said. That one sentence stuck with me.
So many parents are carrying this kind of invisible load of juggling therapies, school calls, food sensitivities, behavior changes, and their own burnout while still trying to hold everything together. When a child is struggling, the whole household feels it physically and emotionally.
This isn’t about perfect parenting at all! It’s about getting support and digging deeper into root causes that often get overlooked nutrition, nervous system stress, inflammation, underlying imbalances. When you support the foundation, daily life can get lighter for both parent and child.
