Praying vs. processing - why both matter 🤍

Prayer is a powerful place to begin. It invites God into our pain, our fears, our questions, and our hope for healing. Through prayer, we surrender what we’re carrying and remember that we are never walking alone.

Prayer doesn’t replace the need to process. God designed our minds and emotions with intention, and part of healing is learning to understand what we’re feeling, where it comes from, and how it’s shaping our lives and relationships. Processing allows us to name our wounds, recognize patterns, and gently work through the stories that still hold weight in our hearts.

Prayer connects us to God’s presence. Processing helps us partner with the work He is doing within us. When we allow both faith and reflection, surrender and insight - we create space for deeper, lasting healing.

Meet Your Counselor | Samantha

Reaching out for help is a meaningful and courageous step. I’m a licensed clinical social worker in the state of New York with a Master’s degree in Social Work from Bryn Mawr College, and I’m part of a dedicated team committed to creating a safe, supportive space for healing.

My clinical approach is trauma-responsive and strengths-based, with a particular focus on relational trauma and attachment. I draw from a range of evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and EMDR. I also have specialized training in adoption, foster care, and developmental trauma, and offer faith-based counseling when requested.

My goal as your counselor is to build a trusting relationship, offer practical tools and insight, and walk alongside you with hope as you pursue growth and healing. I currently provide personalized counseling and psychotherapy through secure virtual sessions.

As we settle into a new year, we do so prayerfully - with hope, humility, and trust in God’s faithfulness.

The start of a new year often brings reflection, fresh intentions, and quiet questions about what’s next. At Sharon Klein Counseling, we believe this season is an invitation to pause, seek wisdom, and allow God to meet us right where we are - not where we think we should be.

Whether you’re carrying gratitude, grief, uncertainty, or hope, you don’t have to walk into this year alone. We are honored to provide a space rooted in faith, truth, and compassion, where healing and growth are guided by both clinical care and biblical truth.

Here’s to a year of renewal, grace, and steady steps forward - one conversation, one prayer, one moment at a time.

As we look back on 2025, our hearts are full. 🤍

This year has been marked by growth, healing, and the quiet, powerful work that happens when people show up bravely for themselves.

It has been an honor to witness the progress our clients have made - steps toward wholeness, restored hope, healthier relationships, and deeper understanding. Watching this transformation unfold is deeply meaningful and reminds us why this work matters so much.
To our clients and community: thank you for trusting us with your stories and your hearts. It is a privilege to walk alongside you.

As we step into 2026, we do so prayerfully - seeking wisdom, guidance, and compassion for the year ahead. We look forward to those we will have the opportunity to work with, support, and pray over in the coming year.

Grateful for what has been, and hopeful for what’s to come. ✨

Kind Words from our Clients |

“I’ve been with several counseling places/therapists over the span of almost a decade. None of them compare to Sharon Klein Counseling. Jeremy, who is in charge of making sure everything from billing and beyond is under control, is very caring and understanding. I’m grateful to God for putting on Sharon’s heart to open this practice, as He has used it to change my life. Although struggles will always be present, I know God has placed my counselor, Larissa Weinert, in my life to help “carry my burdens (with His help)” for a reason. Larissa has been a blessing to my life. She always believes in me and advocates for me to make sure my walk with Christ is one with Godly care and dignity. I really struggle to trust people, due to past experiences, but no matter what it is, Larissa has been honest in love and has made me feel safe (which is so hard to find). Knowing I have a therapist who is always praying for me and cheering me on from the sidelines, as Larissa does, makes me feel not alone and truly valued (something I’ve always struggled with). If I could ever meet her in person, I would give her a hug and say thank you. Knowing that God has placed Sharon Klein Counseling and Larissa in my corner means everything.”

Meet Your Counselor | Natasha
I believe each person is fearfully and wonderfully made - and that the layers of who we are reflect the beauty and intentionality of our Creator. My work in both clinical settings and the local church has shaped a holistic approach to counseling, one that honors every part of what it means to be human: emotional, physical, and spiritual.

In the therapy room, my heart is to meet you with compassion, sensitivity, and the reminder that it’s okay to not be okay. Asking for help isn’t weakness, it’s a brave and meaningful step toward healing. Therapy provides a safe, non-judgmental space to process what feels heavy, explore what feels stuck, and celebrate the growth and resilience you may not always see in yourself.

My professional journey began as a youth director in a church, where I quickly realized just how complex the challenges were that many young people and families were facing. That realization led me to pursue a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling and step into clinical work. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of serving children, adolescents, adults, and individuals navigating substance use disorders.

I would be honored to support you with compassion, care, and hope as you become the healthiest version of yourself. You don’t have to walk this journey alone. 🤍

This Christmas season, one of the most meaningful gifts you can give yourself is the intentional care of your own heart and mind. 🎄✨
In a season filled with celebration, gatherings, and joyful moments, it’s easy to overlook the quiet spaces within us that still feel tender, overwhelmed, or weary. But Jesus came into the world not just to bring salvation, but to bring peace, hope, and rest to every part of who we are.

He sees your heart.
He knows your story.
And He cares deeply about your emotional and mental wellbeing.

Pausing to care for yourself is not selfish - it’s a beautiful act of stewardship. When Scripture calls Jesus the Prince of Peace, it reminds us that true peace begins within, as we allow Him to calm the anxious thoughts, soothe the heavy places, and breathe life into the parts of us that feel forgotten.

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.” - Psalm 107:1 🍂

This Thanksgiving, we’re reflecting on God’s faithfulness and the blessing of walking alongside individuals, couples, and families as they pursue healing, restoration, and hope. It’s a privilege to witness the ways He moves in the hearts and lives of those we serve.

Whether your day is filled with celebration or carries a bit of heaviness, may you feel the nearness of God, the comfort of His peace, and the warmth of His love.
Wishing you and your family a grace-filled, joyful Thanksgiving. 🤍

As we welcome winter, we also acknowledge that for many, this season brings more than just cold weather. ❄️ Shorter days and longer nights can make it harder to find motivation, joy, or energy - and that’s okay.

If you’re feeling the weight of seasonal depression, know that you’re not alone. Here are a few ways to care for yourself this season:

☀️ Spend time in natural light whenever possible
💬 Stay connected to people who lift you up
🧘‍♀️ Prioritize movement and rest in equal measure
📆 Create small routines that bring structure and comfort

Our goal as therapists is to offer practical tools and real support - so you can navigate this season with hope, balance, and compassion for yourself.

Meet Your Counselor | Larissa

Life is full of opportunities to find meaning and hope, even in challenging moments. As Nietzsche once said, “He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how.”
Since 2013, I’ve felt called by God to walk alongside others in their healing journey through psychotherapy. With a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling (graduating with honors and a clinical excellence award), I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals, couples, and families from all walks of life.

My approach is personalized - drawing from Logotherapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy - to help you uncover your “why,” overcome the past, and step forward with purpose. Whether in-person or via telehealth, I’m here to help you become the person you’re meant to be.

🍂 October is here, and for many, this is when anticipatory seasonal depression can start to creep in. The days get shorter, routines shift, and our bodies and minds begin preparing for the darker, colder months ahead.

✨ A few ways to support your mental health right now:

Soak up the daylight: Get outside during peak sun hours to help regulate mood and energy.
Move your body: Gentle exercise - like walking, stretching, or yoga can help reduce tension and boost endorphins.
Stay connected: Reach out to friends, join a group, or make space for community - even when you feel tempted to isolate.
Check in with yourself: Journaling or talking with a counselor can help you notice patterns and create strategies before symptoms deepen.

Remember, preparing for the season ahead is an act of care. You’re not alone in feeling this shift, and support is always available. 💛

Our Story

On the outside you look like you have it all together, but you are tired of pretending everything is great. Don’t get me wrong, some areas of your life may be going well, but you long for something more. Something is missing. And you are not even sure what that “something” is. Maybe your faith has always been a part of your life but at this point you are wondering how it all fits together. It may be a source of strength, but it still doesn’t bring you the comfort it once did. Or maybe you are questioning your faith all together.

You have tried reading some blogs or self-help books but that is not cutting it. Your friends suggest finding a therapist. But you are wondering if that is really necessary. How can a stranger help me with my stuff?

Experiencing adversity is a part of life, it is not a sign of failure. In fact, it is often in our pain that we discover a strength that we did not know we possess. But you don’t have to face it alone. I have the privilege of working with dynamic individuals whose strength and resolve shines through in the mist of some tremendously difficult circumstances. Sometimes it’s memories from the past that we never fully dealt with. Sometimes it’s insecurity, health issues, relationship challenges, loss, or the fear of the unknown. Sometimes it’s just feeling stuck. Seeking the support of a therapist during this time, can give you the tools you need to move through these challenges and help you discover meaning, direction and purpose.
