Saturday October 18: Here are the Steps We Took AA Day of Sharing held at the UU Church in Canton NY from 1-5pm. There are people attending the Day of Sharing so if you need a ride, call the Clubhouse phone 315-250-7410 and we can make arrangements. As an added bonus Melissa W. is speaking sometime during the day! Hope to see many of you attend the day.
Later that night the first monthly Game night starts at 7 pm. In addition to pitch there will be a variety of Board games. We hear Jimmy like Yahtzee, Brian D. likes Uno and Karen M. wants to play Pictionary. If you have a game in mind, bring it along. We re game for anything !! Carl C. will be making popcorn .. unless Curtis H. shows up! They both make really good popcorn. Bring a snack if you can. See everyone Saturday night.
Sunday October 19: We are having a Going Away Party for Karen M who is going south for the winter.
We asked Karen to cook the dinner for Sundy... little does she know she is cooking for her own party!! (don't tell her) The turkey Dinner will be served after the 1 pm AA Meeting. Ye there will be cards, and the Football games will be on ... We have had some pretty good crowds lately and lots of new people so stop in if you can. We will miss you Karan M.
Friday October 24 from 5-8pm St Johns Church has invited us to play dice game called Bunco. they assure us we don't need to know how to play. All we have to do is show up with Soda, maybe chip in for pizza, and play the game. Let Sue L know if you want to attend or call the Clubhouse number: 315-250-7410 . St. Johns Parish has been very good to the clubhouse for a long time. Thanks for always including us in your activities.
October 31 is Halloween and Melissa W & Carl C have volunteered to pass out candy at the Clubhouse. If you want to help out, show up in costume if you can!! We will also be handing out survival bags no that it is cold out. Anyone want to help out with that?
Sunday November 2 Brian D. is celebrating 38 years, Andrew S. is celebrating 38 years, and Mike B. is celebrating 2 years at the 1 pm AA meeting. We don't have the details yet but plan on attending the meeting to support these three anniversaries. There will be a dinner after the meeting and I am sure Pat O will make the cake1!
November 7 & 8 is our annual Cabbage Roll Sale, and we need volunteers to help us out. This is a big fundraiser for us so anything you can do to help out is appreciated. Remember, the clocks turn back this weekend so if you get tired from helping us you will get an extra hour of sleep. Win Win in my book
November 15 is the third Saturday of the month, and you know what that means. Its Games Day with Lunch. No details yet but plan ahead. We could even throw in a movie with a recovery theme. It's whatever people want to do. Lunch will be decided by the group as we get closer to the day. Any ideas are welcome.
Finally, on Thanksgiving Day Thursday November 27 we will be serving traditional Thanksgiving Dinner. We provide the turkey and people signup for the side dishes. Look for the sign up sheet sometime in November. that way we know how many turkeys to cook. AA will still hold their noon meeting and dinner il be severed after the meeting. the doors will be open all day so drop in even if it's for dessert.
Moving onto December, we have to find time to decorate so we are calling are decorators, Lois J., and Amy B. to pop in and help us out. Of course, if anyone else wants to help decorate, please do. We still need a volunteer to setup the Christmas Giving Tree. For anyone who doesn't know we hang mittens on the tree with items we need for the clubhouse. This cuts down on our operating expenses and is especially helpful now that we are so busy.
Saturday December 6 Char B. is holding her annual Christmas Ornament Craft Class. We are waiting to hear what he has in mind and how much it will cost but for all our crafters out there, Char has great ideas, and we have made some really neat ornaments. There will be a sign-up sheet for this day too.
Saturday December 13 we are holding a Cookie Exchange for anyone who wants to participate. You can bake or buy your cookies. How many we make ill depend on the number of people signing up. We already know Pat O will be on the list so exchanging cookies with him should be incentive enough! Yes, a signup sheet for this too and yes as we get closer to the date details will be finalized
Thursday December 25 is Christmas Day, and we will be serving dinner at the clubhouse after the Noon AA meeting. Again, we will ask people to bring a dish to pass and there will be a sign-up sheet. We usually play a few games brought to you by Char B., watch the football games and yes play pitch. It is always a nice day and all are welcome.
Thursday December 31 New Years eve is up in the Air.... TBA
Note: There is always a dinner every Sunay after the 1 pm AA meeting. If you feel motivated plan or make the dinner one Sunday let us know right away!! We would be grateful for your service
That is enough for now ... look for Part 2 detailing past activities.
and then more next week.....
