HI Everybody,
If I could just get it together!! December is half over and many of the activities have taken place. Hope you are following us on Facebook to get the latest updates. Its been so busy Char B. and Stacie H. haven't had time to proofread, and John F. just decided it was easier to come home to find out what's going on! Gald you are back John. Here is what is going on ...
We will be open on Christmas Day and there will be a Noon AA Meeting and there will be a dinner following the meeting and there will be an Alanon meeting that night. There is still time to sign up for Christmas dinner. we will be serving ham and turkey, scalloped potatoes, dressing, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, various salads and desserts. Again, we had an anonymous donor give us $100 toward dinner which really has helped given the affordable prices of food these days! We hope Char B. will join us to bring back the game everyone looks forward to and of course the football game will be on and the card games and maybe some friendly conversation with David D. I know you will need a least an hour for that conversation! Ice cream Steve is coming with the Ice Cream, Pat O. with his cookies, Carol H. with a surprise dessert and Delma W. with her cake. Others of us will be cooking the main meal and I think Patti P. and Doughnut Dave will be there. Let's hope Tim Hortons is open. Hey Patti if you drop the doughnuts bring them anyways.... some of us will eat them. And don't forget... Sue L has dibs on o the Sour Cream Doughnut. Drop in anytime. If you can't get out and need a meal, call us. Dustin A. and Sue L. will deliver to your doorstep. Happy Holidays everyone.
We are still collecting donations from the mitten tree. Thanks to all those people who have already donated. It is really helpful given the affordable prices of supplies these days. We appreciate and are grateful for everyone who has helped out. If you haven't stopped by the clubhouse lately swing by to see the decorations. Thanks to Amy B. we didn't have to do much as she donated 10 poinsettias to the Clubhouse. Thanks Amy it really looks nice in there. It also is looking good because Stacie H brings in her crew every Tuesday morning and cleans the clubhouse. And on Sundy Rusty shows early to clean before the 1 pm AA meeting. Thanks Rusty and Stacie it sure is nice to have many hands helping.
Last Saturday Char B held her annual Ornament Craft Day and as usual we had a lot of fun. Lori S. made some really unique ornament, Melissa W. made a Bills ornament (big surprise) Sue L. was two hours late and only made one ornament, and I don't know what Stacie H. and her friend made or anyone else. We made mess while having fun but everyone pitched in to help. Then there was the cookie exchange. There were some pretty good cookies, just ask Gaetan R. who walked over and helped himself. At least Brian D. asked if he could have a cookie. I guess we will have more participants next year!
We have had some pretty good dinners since Thanksgiving. Sue L made a huge pot of Turkey soup and Delma W. made the cornbread. The next week we enjoyed a Spaghetti dinner thanks to Vic who brought in sauce and boxes of spaghetti. Stephanie made a great potato salad that was gone in a flash and just last week Sue L made goulash with rigatoni. (I don't recommend using rigatoni for goulash!) Delma W. made a bean soup that was really good, and Stephanie made her awesome potato salad. Of course we had the regular desserts Delma W. cake, Pat O.'s cookies and Steves ice cream but this week Jimmy brought cupcakes. Thanks Jimmy! This past weekend we had stuffed shells and pea soup and yes, the awesome potato salad from Stephanie. We did have big surprise though.... no cookies from Pat O. He needed a break!! I'm happy to report we all survived that ordeal...By the way, nice to see you back at the clubhouse Rachael & Shirley and Tina C! keep coming back
Huge thank you to Rusty and Dustin A, who help clean St. Johns Church last Saturday night. Thankfully John F. and his crew (Dustin A. and Dennis B.)did not leave pine tree needles all over the church this year! As usual we have been cleaning the churches and community center with the same volunteers as always. Except we have added Rusty to the roster. We appreciate all the people who have volunteered. It's hard work but it does keep the clubhouse going. Also thank Joan D. for donation. We appreciate your support.
Carl C. fell and broke a rib. Hope you are up and around soon Brian D. left for Florida and learned how to zoom so we get to see him every week. Enjoy the warm weather. A few of our older members are not feeling 100 percent Jimmy, Dave B. , Patti H. and Danny L. Hope you all feel better in the coming weeks.
Have you heard about our thermos Program? Char B. had a brainstorm . We have collected thermoses to pass out to the homeless who wander into the clubhouse looking for a warm beverage or soup. Once fed, we fill the thermos with hot soup or coffee for later in the day. It is a great odea char. We have already helped a few people out.
Finally, has anyone seen Banana Bread Melissa? We hear she is parked in front of the TV watching football. Special thanks to Pat O for keep the Clubhouse going on a daily basis and Delma W. for making sure the heat is on!! And Gaetan R. and Danny L. for playing cards very day..
More next week.
Addendum:
