Wrist pain, numbness, or tingling in your hand? It could be coming from your wrist.

In today’s “Splints with Kate”, our Occupational Therapist Kate from our Matawan location explains how a wrist cock-up splint helps support the wrist in a neutral position. By limiting excessive bending and keeping the wrist properly aligned, these splints can help relieve pressure on the nerve often involved in Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

They’re commonly used for conditions like wrist strain, tendon irritation, and post-injury support—helping reduce pain while allowing the hand to rest and recover.

If you’re dealing with wrist discomfort, splinting may be a simple but effective part of your treatment plan.

📍Visit our Matawan office to learn if a custom splint is right for you.

Flexibility vs. Mobility — they’re not the same. 🧠

🧘‍♀️ Flexibility is how far a muscle can stretch.
🏃‍♂️ Mobility is how well a joint moves through that range with control and strength.

You can be flexible and still feel stiff.
You can stretch every day and still have pain.

Why?
Because mobility = flexibility + stability + strength.

If your shoulders, hips, or spine feel tight even though you stretch, your body might be asking for mobility work—not more stretching.

👉 That’s where guided movement, joint control, and targeted strengthening come in.

Train your body to move better, not just stretch farther.

Neck feel tight?
Shoulder blade constantly burning or pulling? 👀

It might not just be “bad posture.”

When muscles around your cervical spine and shoulder blade get overworked, stressed, or locked up, they develop trigger points — tight bands that refer pain into your neck, head, and upper back.

💥 That’s where dry needling comes in.

By placing a thin needle directly into those tight muscles, we:
• Release deep trigger points
• Improve blood flow
• Decrease tension
• Restore normal muscle function

And when we add electrical stimulation (e-stim) to the needles?
⚡️ The muscle gently contracts and relaxes, helping it reset and calm down even faster.

The goal isn’t just temporary relief — it’s getting your neck and shoulder moving the way they’re supposed to so you can train, work, and live without constant tension.

If your neck pain keeps coming back, it’s time to address the muscle, not just stretch it.
