This week's spotlight on another population we serve. Immigrants who migrate legally to the US are focused to work hard to be able to provide a better life for their families.

Some of these workers come alone, others come with their families. Either way, it's hard but they do what's necessary to provide. It's an honor to serve this population and thankful for this program for helping them get access to Mental health services.

3. Change in Family dynamics
4. Work related stress

Yesterday I traveled to Chapel Hill to attend a training, Living Amid Fear: Supporting the Mental Health and Wellbeing of Immigrants and Refugees.

Some take aways are that current immigration policy changes make it hard for eligible individuals to complete their applications. In addition, I am now informed that under a specific Visa, even if they qualify for the visa, they will soon eliminate the eligilibty to receive medicaid assistance. 😑 The "fine print" is hard to digest, which saddens me.

Which confirms what I foresee happening, immigration changes that make it hard for clients to receive mental health services, in addition to legal services. However I am working on something I will soon share that I hope will give relief or another option for potential immigrant clients, when the time comes. Stay tuned! There are so many signs that now confirm I am headed in the right direction. I am already a step ahead 💥

It was great connecting with Maria and Magdalena and I look forward to collaborating with them in the near future!
