It is my honor to announce that this year, MIM will be partnering with Thompson Child & Family Focus Services by adopting 50 children to donate Christmas gifts to this year. There will be an angel on our tree to represent each of the children. Due to confidentiality, the image and names of the children will not be listed.

Brief Bio:

Thompson has been around for 100 years! They started out as a Church Orphanage and now as a nationally recognized non-profit, they provide children and family services in 30 counties here in NC. Their Matthews location currently houses 315 foster children (50 of whom MIM has adopted for this Christmas). They focus on in-patient and out-patient clinical therapy and prevention in the areas of behavioral health, developmental education and medical assistance. They also have programs dedicated to troubled juveniles, homeless children and families, and they even assist CMS schools.

If you would like to partner with us in this annual endeavor by donating gifts or gift cards please feel free to contact me or bring your donation to our office prior to Dec 17th. Thank you for your assistance in helping MIM continue our efforts in doing all that we can for the well-being of our community!

Where were you and what were you doing when you first heard the news?

I was home watching the Bold and the Beautiful, getting ready for work. My show was interrupted by the video of the second plane trashing into the 2nd Tower. I really didn’t understand what was going on for a while. Maybe I was in shock, I’m not really sure, when I realized what was happening I cried and cried and cried. I had to go to work that night at a restaurant. It was dead that night. No one came out to eat and we ended up closing early. My heart goes out to all the hero’s who tried to help, all the workers who lost their lives, all the passengers who lost their lives and had to live in terror for as long as they did. My heart also goes out to all the loved ones left behind. I will never forget this day.
