Dr. Ferrari’s tip tips to care for your surgical scars: ⬇️
Healing beautifully takes time — and the right approach makes all the difference. Here are a few key tips to help your scars heal smoother, softer, and less noticeable:
1️⃣ Silicone Gel or Silicone Sheets – Clinically backed and most recommended. Start once your incision is fully healed and use daily for 8–12+ weeks to hydrate and balance collagen.
Our Ferrari MD Pro Skincare Scar Cream features medical-grade silicone to help soften, smooth, and fade scars. Available for purchase in the office!
2️⃣ Sun Protection (SPF 30–50+) – Scars and sun don’t mix. Always apply SPF or keep the area covered to prevent dark, permanent pigmentation.
3️⃣ Gentle Scar Massage – Once cleared by your surgeon, light circular massage 2–3x daily helps soften and smooth the tissue.
4️⃣ Avoid Tension – Keep stress off the scar while it’s healing to prevent widening or thickening.
5️⃣ No Smoking or Ni****ne – Oxygen = healing. Ni****ne slows recovery and increases scar visibility.
6️⃣ Microneedling, IPL, or steroid injections (if needed) – If a scar stays thick or red after 6–12 months, ask your surgeon about advanced options like microneedling, IPL, or steroid injections.
💬 Important note: Genetics play a big role in how your body heals. Some people are simply more prone to thicker, raised, or more visible scars — and that’s completely normal.
