Great explanation of maternal rage from PSI.

Maternal Rage is characterized by triggers highlighting violated expectations and unmet needs leading to feeling on edge, to the point where anger explodes outward or is suppressed inward. When the anger is expressed outward, the mother can feel shame and guilt, but the anger also acts as a catalyst for change. When the anger is suppressed inward, the mother feels increased resentment, more feelings of being on edge, and there is no outward signal that they need more support.

Maternal rage is more common than we think! You are not alone, and help is available.

In addition to her experience, she has specific training in perinatal mental health and perinatal loss.

As the Postpartum Support International-NC prepares for Maternal Mental Health week (the first week of May) we want to remind ourselves that at one point, we also didn’t know what was happening to us, and that may have felt scary, overwhelming, and isolating.

How different would life have been for us if we knew someone else was experiencing what we were going through?

Our stories have the power to save lives.

Share you story on the form and help shine a light for someone who needs to hear your words today. We will share parts of the stories submitted throughout maternal mental health week on our social media platforms.
