Washington Savings Bank recently made a $15,000 donation to the new Sarah Bush Lincoln Effingham Specialty Pavilion now under construction at 905 N. Maple St. Once construction is complete next fall, a plaque will be engraved and placed in the main lobby of the new facility recognizing the bank for its generosity.

"The new Effingham Specialty Pavilion will be a tremendous asset to our community for years to come,” said David Doedtman, President and CEO of Washington Savings Bank. “We’re proud to support Sarah Bush Lincoln in expanding access to quality specialty care right here in Effingham."

The SBL Effingham Specialty Pavilion will be a two-story, 39,946 square-foot outpatient medical office building, costing $28 million. A variety of specialty services will be located in the new Pavilion, including cardiac nuclear medicine and stress testing, echocardiology, pulmonary function testing and a cardiac rehabilitation gym. ENT services, including testing and hearing aid fitting, a drive-thru retail pharmacy, laboratory and space for physician specialists will also be housed there.

“We’re incredibly grateful for this generous donation from Washington Savings Bank,” said Sarah Bush Lincoln President and CEO Kim Uphoff. “The bank has a long history of giving back to the communities they serve, including supporting Sarah Bush Lincoln programs and services. We’re very thankful for their generosity.”

Donors making gifts of $5,000 or more to the Effingham Specialty Pavilion will have their names engraved on individual plaques in the new building. Donors making gifts of $1,000 or more will have names included on a group plaque. The Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Foundation will host its 18th annual SBL Hospice Binga on Tuesday, September 9 at the Mattoon Eagles Club. Although the event is already sold out we have started a wait list. Net proceeds support an endowment for SBL Willow Breeze Hospice House. You can support the event by purchasing raffle tickets for $5 each, or three for $10, for a Nintendo Switch 2 package. www.sarahbush.org/binga.

Best wishes to Orthopedic Surgeon Donald Sandercock II, DO, who is moving to Tennessee to be closer to his daughters and grandchildren. Dr. Sandercock started with SBL in 2008 as one of the first orthopedic providers onboard SBL’s staff.

“I’ve made many friends at Sarah Bush Lincoln and in the community that I will surely miss,” he said. “I’ve had such a wonderful time living and working in the area.”

During his tenure, he also served as the chief of surgery for 11 years and is a beloved member of the largest orthopedic staff in downstate Illinois.

“Sarah Bush Lincoln’s growth has been phenomenal. When I started, the Heart Center wasn’t built yet, and neither were the Regional Cancer Center, the Surgery Center and many other clinics,” he said. “It’s been great to see the strengthening of the organization and the sustained goal of patient-centered care.”

Dr. Sandercock is grateful to everyone at SBL and in the community who he got to know during his time here, and he’s especially grateful to Anissa Kennedy, clinic nurse, who he has worked with over the last decade.

Camden Lee Shaon was born on August 6 to parents Brandon and Kate Shaon. "Thank you to the SBL Women’s and Children’s staff for our wonderful experience!
