Meet the Speakers!

Amanda has been working in the field of speech pathology for nearly 14 years and has recently focused her skills and training on orofacial myofunctional therapy.

Orofacial myofunctional therapy (often referred to as “myofunctional therapy”) is an emerging area of interest among healthcare providers. Amanda will provide a brief overview of
orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMDs), discuss why individuals with Down syndrome may be at increased risk for these disorders, and share examples of how myofunctional therapy can support improved oral function.

Meet the Speakers!

Today we're excited to introduce Derek Graham! Derek is an estate planning attorney and partner at Philipps & Graham, LLC in Dublin, Ohio. Derek’s practice focuses on developmental disability law, special needs planning, guardianship, and probate. Derek’s practice in developmental disability law started in 2009 when his oldest daughter was born with Down syndrome.

Derek and his wife know first-hand how confusing and complicated it can be when trying to navigate all of the medical, legal, social and benefit-related issues that families face. Derek enjoys helping to simplify the planning process and teach families about the legal topics that really matter to individuals with developmental disabilities. Derek lives in Dublin, Ohio with his wife and their three daughters.

Our newest collaboration with Toledo TOPSoccer is kicking off ⚽️ next week, on April 1st! (This is no joke!)

US Youth Soccer TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer) is a recreational sports program for children and adults with intellectual, emotional, or physical disabilities offered only through local US Youth Soccer-affiliated soccer clubs. TOPSoccer provides people with diverse abilities an opportunity to play soccer in a structured environment that is safe, fun, supportive, and inclusive.

Sessions will be on Wednesday nights from 6pm to 7pm at the Maumee Soccer Center (1620 Marketplace Drive, Maumee, OH ) from April 1st through May 6th.

DSAGT will have access to two separate fields, which means this program can truly be for everyone! We will have one field for our younger participants (6-12 years old) and one field for our teens and adults (13 years and up).
