Joanie’s journey as a micro-preemie born at 25 weeks!

04/10/2023

Joanie had her eye surgery this morning and she did great! She woke up a little while ago and drank a pretty big bottle so now she’s resting. they want to monitor her for a while then we can go home. Thank you all so much for the prayers. We have definitely felt them and this is another answered prayer. God has been so so good to us. This should be the last major thing for Joanie! Just check ups now! our girl has come so far and we couldn’t have made it this far without all of your prayers and support💓

My mom colored some maps for Joanie. All the pink states and colored countries have people that are praying for Joanie. We are blown away with the amount of people that have prayed for her. We are incredibly blessed and are so so thankful for all the answered prayers we have seen. Joanie has a story to tell and I cannot wait to see how God uses her🤍

Joanie update!
Joanie will have her laser eye surgery Monday, April 10th at 7:15am. It’s a quick surgery and we should be able to come home that day if everything goes good and she’s able to come off oxygen with no issues. They’ll have to intubate her and put her to sleep.. I know she’s going to be fine but this is the most stressful part of her surgery. Please pray everything goes great and we’re able to go home that day!! God has had His hand on her through everything and I know He’ll take care of her Monday too!

Joanie has been doing so so good! She’s a little over 7 months old and 4 months since her due date! She is laughing and smiling all the time, sticking her tongue out and loves when we do it to her, rolling over both ways, and talking alllll the time!! She is such a sweet baby and we have been incredibly blessed with her. God has been so good and we love her so much!!

Joanie had her neurology appointment today and it went great! They checked her development and said she’s doing so so good based on her due date!! Everyone is so pleased with how well she’s doing and how far she’s come. She’s smiling, laughing, grabbing toys, and talking to us so much!! I have absolutely loved watching our girl grow and improve daily. They didn’t check the actual bleed because they only do that if they’re concerned about anything. They said everything looks good with her!
She wouldn’t be where she is today without all of the support and prayers. Thank you all so much for keeping up with Joanie and constantly praying!!

She has a checkup for her eyes Tuesday! We’re praying for more good news!

Joanie has been doing so good!! We had another eye appointment today. He is still super impressed with how well the injections have helped her eyes! He told us as of right now, she doesn’t need glasses! He decided the safest thing for Joanie and her eyes is to do the laser procedure. She’ll have this done in April. He said it’s super quick and he’s done it multiple times. This should be an outpatient procedure if she wakes up fine! Please pray that everything will go well and she comes off the vent with no issues. This momma is a little worried about her being intubated and on the vent again. Everyone there did make me feel a lot better about it though!

Joanie also has a neurology appointment coming up next week to check on her brain bleed. Please pray for more improvement and good news!

Thank you all so much for continuing to check on Joanie and keep up with her. She has been so great and is such a great baby! She’s growing so fast now!!💓

Sweet baby is worn out after her eye exam! We got some really good news today. The blood that was in her left eye is completely gone now! I was worried about this since she isn’t elevated at home when she sleeps and is on the mats. So this is a big praise!
He also said the vessels in her eyes have almost grown completely out. He is very impressed with her eyes and how well the injections worked for her!! He told us back in November she’d need laser eye surgery eventually after the injections. He said the injections would help enough to wait until she is older. After seeing her eyes today he thinks she may not need the laser eye surgery at all! This is such a relief. We didn’t really want her to be reintubated and put to sleep for the surgery. We go back in a few weeks to find out for sure. Joanie fought them pretty hard today so they weren’t able to get perfect pictures of her eyes. We’re praying hard for great news again in a few weeks!!

Thank you all so much for the prayers. Even though Joanie is home she’s still needing them. We have seen SO many answered prayers with Joanie and this is another one!! Please pray she does better during the next exam, her eyes look even better, and that she won’t need the laser eye surgery! We appreciate you all and all the prayers so much!! Please keep them coming!!💗

Joanie has been doing great at home and we have loved every minute of it!
Because of the ice, her eye exam that she was suppose to have a couple of weeks ago got moved to tomorrow. We’re praying for good news and more improvement!

We know so many of you are still keeping up with Joanie and praying for her. We really appreciate all the prayers and all of you that are still checking on her and asking for updates!💗

Our girl is growing and doing SO good at home!!
Joanie had a cardiologist appointment today and he said everything looks great!
Next week Joanie has another eye exam just to make sure everything still looks good. She had some blood draining in her left eye a while back so they had her bed elevated at the hospital. Her head hasn’t been elevated as much at home so we’re praying it looks good and there’s no concerns!

Joanie has done so well at home! She’s 10 pounds 10 ounces and such a happy baby!! thank you all so much for praying and keeping up with our girl. We wouldn’t be here without all the prayers and support!!💗

The feeding tube is out!! Joanie has been doing so so good! They’re still watching her to make sure she gains weight and takes all her bottles. Occasionally she won’t take her full bottle but it’s not a concern unless she does it more often. Thank you so much for the prayers! There have been so many answered prayers lately!! Please continue to pray that she does well and gains weight!
Hopefully we’ll be home with our girl soon!💗

Joanie is still doing great!! She took all her bottles again yesterday!! Now all we need is for her to gain weight. She has stayed about the same for a while then lost a little. They’re going up on the amount of milk she’s getting and they’re going to watch her through the next week to see if she’s gaining weight again! Overall, they’re not worried because she hasn’t lost a significant amount and she is still doing so well! We are so so thankful for all the answered prayers lately! Our sweet girl is doing so good!!🤍

Please continue to pray she does well with bottles, doesn’t have events, and starts to gain weight!! Thank you all SO much!!💗
