The small rural town of Maupin rests on both sides of the Deschutes River, off Highway 197, 45- minutes from The Dalles or Madras and a 2-hour drive from either Bend or Portland. It is close to major shopping but a world away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Designed with abundant windows, a shaded courtyard, meandering walking paths, and comfortable seating areas for reading and resting, residents at Canyon Rim Senior Living are well equipped to enjoy
the area's over 300 days of sunshine. We’re a hub of activity, not only for our senior residents, but also for friends and family in the Maupin area. Staff is available 24/7, so when assistance is needed with ambulation, doctor appointments, bathing, eating, incontinent care, medication management or dressing, day or night, we’re there, ready, able and willing to provide what’s needed. Our friendly and competent staff receive regular and extensive professional training and continuing education well beyond what’s required for certification or licensing. She takes the time to understand their routines and preferences, ensuring they feel comfortable and respected. Her gentle approach helps residents feel safe, supported, and valued—especially during difficult or emotional moments. Leticia is the kind of teammate everyone hopes to work with. She communicates clearly during shift changes, helps others without hesitation, and encourages newer staff to ask questions and learn. She models teamwork by stepping in wherever she’s needed and always putting the residents’ needs first.

Canyon Rim’s Annual Friendsgiving celebration was a resounding success! Our community was filled to the brim with residents, staff, family, friends, and neighbors. Our bellies were full of a delicious home cooked meal, and our hearts were filled with love and gratitude.

Our South Wasco County village always shows up in big and small ways for the Canyon Rim community and its residents. Events and experiences like Friendsgiving could not happen without everyone’s continued kindness and support. We truly are so fortunate to call Maupin home and believe we are the luckiest little assisted living to have such wonderful and generous friends and neighbors.

During this season of gratitude, we appreciate the kindness of our Maupin community. Everyone is always willing to step up for Canyon Rim and its residents. Case in point, even the littlest community members from Tygh Valley preschoolers made beautiful Thanksgiving wreaths for our residents. We are grateful for all of you who continuously show us love and support!

You want a piece of me? (Why, yes, actually we do!) Pie Day at Canyon Rim is an annual tradition ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday. Every employee gets an apple or pumpkin pie of their choice. 24 Costco pies were delivered to our community and will soon grace the Thanksgiving tables of our team members. Canyon Rim residents love their Movie Matinees, especially if a Western is on the big screen. They recently watched “Horizon” starring Kevin Costner, a 2024 film about the expansion of the American West. What’s your favorite Western film—either classic or modern?
