Fall is here and unfortunately all the nasty seasonal viruses are here, too. Here’s a simple flow chart to help you determine when your child needs to stay home from school. Most kids with a cold or stomach bug will recover on their own with some extra rest and fluids and do not need to be seen by a doctor, but you should call your pediatrician right away if your child has difficulty breathing, blue lips or nails, extreme fatigue, or is showing signs of dehydration. Rainbow Babies & Children’s, Cleveland — June 2–Aug. 15
Elyria Medical Center, Elyria — June 2–Aug. 15
Lake West Medical Center, Willoughby — June 2–Aug. 15
Parma Medical Center, Parma — June 16–Aug. 22
Portage Medical Center, Ravenna — June 2–Aug. 15
Samaritan Medical Center, Ashland — June 2–Aug. 22

Meals will be served Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Children must eat onsite, as meals cannot be taken to go, according to federal guidelines.

Measles spreads faster than any other infectious disease we know. That’s why it's often the first to reappear when vaccination rates drop. And it’s not just contagious—it’s dangerous. Measles can cause serious complications, including pneumonia, brain swelling, and even death. And when overall vaccine coverage falls, it opens the door for other diseases to come back, too, like pertussis (whooping cough), which has also been surging in recent years.
