Last Friday marked 6 months since tornadoes devastated Mayfield, Kentucky and destroyed Mayfield Health and Rehabilitation. Many lives changed that night, but amongst the tragedy, the power of the human spirit was strong! We are so proud to share this heroic story of bravery, resilience, and the heart of long-term care in “The Miracle at Mayfield”. ❤️❤️❤️

We have pulled everything from the facility we could and delivered personal items to the residents.
The facility will be taped off and no one will be allowed back in after 8am 12.15.21.
If there is anything else we need to be looking for please let us know.
Thank you to all the employees, families and volunteers that have spent the last 4 days helping us get equipment and personnel belongings out.

Mayfield Health and Rehab. A building where so many friendships began. A building that has held a whole lot of love within the walls…no longer stands.

But what does stand strong is the love, teamwork, dedication, and heroism that was created within that special facility.

All of the staff that worked so hard, risking their very own lives to protect all 74 residents in the facility on that dreadful Friday night—will forever be my heroes. There will never be enough words or actions that could thank you enough for your dedication to get our residents to safety.

To stand back and think that every single one of our precious residents made it out of that facility with very minor injuries—is absolutely unbelievable. What a true miracle!!

To each of my staff members, I love you. I am so thankful for the family that we created within our facility, but for now—it is time to share your love and care to other facilities and residents. The building on Indiana Avenue might hold lots of special memories for us, but walls can be rebuilt and new memories can be made. Each and every one of you are amazing and are a true blessing to me.

Thanks to everyone for the thoughts and prayers! Our facility was hit hard, but we were able to keep our residents and staff safe, and all residents have been evacuated to sister facilities. Thank you to everyone who helped to facilitate!

We have successfully reached many families, but still have some that we have not gotten ahold of. We will continue to make attempts, but if you have questions, you may call Hughes at 270-727-7089 or Sarah at 270-206-1247.

Another day, another chance to sponsor poinsettias for our nursing home residents in Mayfield! 120 of 430 have been sponsored. For just $10 per poinsettia, you will lift the spirits of those who may need it most this holiday season. Challenge your favorite small businesses in the comments to sponsor - we can’t wait to see who shows up and shows out with this project!

Our friends at The Bloom Company are doing, The Poinsettia Project again this year. Please contact them to sponsor a resident. This was a huge hit with the residents last year. I can’t wait to see their faces when they receive their poinsettias again this year. 🎄

‘Tis the season of giving back. We’re proud to share that The Poinsettia Project is back for another year of spreading joy to those in our nursing home facilities. In 2020, with the help of our community, we delivered over 400 poinsettias to every nursing home resident in Mayfield. This year we will do it again - with 430 to be exact.

If you would like to sponsor, whether it be one or ten or fifteen, we would love to have your support. You may select a specific resident(s) or allow us to select for you at random. For just $10 per poinsettia, you can make a resident’s entire holiday season a bit brighter. The delivery date is scheduled for December 14.

On November 16, 2021, we honored our “Enduring Heroes” across our organization. These individuals were employed in our skilled nursing centers from the very beginning of the pandemic in 2020, and have remained steadfast throughout to serve the residents in their communities.

Our heroes overcame COVID fears, community and family pressures, and their own COVID infections to continue to care for those in need. There are NO greater heroes than those who sacrificed so much for the most vulnerable of our population during the greatest time of need. I believe that these individuals who not only survived, but thrived in the midst of this crisis, were placed exactly where they were meant to be. These “Enduring Heroes” exemplify American community service and the resilience of the human spirit.

We were privileged to celebrate with our sister facilities, Mills and Green Acres, at an evening gala event. It was a really special night for all of our heroes!
