                                            FINDING MY TRUE SELF
From the moment we were conceived , we were conditioned to someone’s else’s liking. For it was dependent on our survival. Our mother was right there feeding us, loving us, conditioning us. Our very survival was dependent of that conditioning. We had no idea that when our spirit picked the mother portal, we knew it would be our portal for this time around. We were in our new place in the universe. Now we must find a true path in life.
As we grow into an adolescent, we learn language, food tastes, clothing, education and yes social conditioning. The moment we realize that we are an independent from our mother and father, and our immediate family, we begin the great disconnection between ourselves and the wolf pack. Although the wolf never leaves the pack, this separation is different. It’s as if we find a path that has never had a footstep on it. It’s been waiting on us our whole life. Now we take that first step alone. After all the lessons, all the teachings, all our mistakes that mom and dad will surely tell us about. This separation is the beginning to finding our true self. The one that’s been there all along, but we were too consumed with all the shinny things that come with a mother and fathers love, social conditioning and of corse all this ridiculous hoopla we call our learned life.
Finding our true self is not easy. We spend years learning about how other people treat us, but in such a painstaking experience, we start to disassociate with those who we’re not the friendliest. This also includes our parents. This is the exact reason a young person may want to fly the coup so young. Because their spirit wants to begin experiencing the ways of the world. The Lakota believe that this separation as a young person is where we begin to see our place in life. Although it’s all so confusing as to who, what and when we are. We start to break down the family, social, and our spiritual life. We start to dismantle all the pressure from others to be what and who they want us to be. It is possible where we start thinking of our spiritual conditioning. We start to call on Great Spirits love for us.
If your reading this, your in a place where you want change. But those changes are at best, challenging. Our walk looks messy. It looks as if we have no respect for the lessons our mother, father and village that taught us. This looks damaging but it’s simply the new unknown path of separation of all we have ever known to trade for the great unknown. This is where our finding of the true self begins. It begins in what looks like a series of mild storms to destructive tornados. But remember, this is the only way to finally, after grueling experiences, find the strength to break free. We begin finding our true selves.
