It is a brighter day for the US today, do not celebrate yet I have a feeling there are storm clouds covering the new moon rising. Keep vigilant, be prepared, do not let your guard down, evil may be non visible at the moment but it will always find a way to rise again. This is but a small victory and we still need to grind this out of control government into submission and make them realize they work for us and the Constitution is in place to keep the Government in control not us the Citizens.

We have a Full Lunar Eclipse in the coming week. It is also a blood Moon so it will give it a unique coloration. You will be able to see it from all of North America, but you will need to be up early. Here is when, where you can see it from.

This is amazing, when you think you have a handle on things something like this appears. For anyone who believes we are the only life, I believe this proves how pompous and out of touch humans are, we only inhabit a mere pin hole in what you are seeing. To see all the images this amazing telescope is getting go here https://jwst.nasa.gov/content/multimedia/images.html

It's here – the deepest, sharpest infrared view of the universe to date: Webb's First Deep Field.

Previewed by President Joe Biden on July 11, the image shows us galaxies once invisible to us. The full set of full-color images and data from NASA's James Webb Space Telescope will be revealed July 12: nasa.gov/webbfirstimages

Okefenokee Pastimes and Pastimes Astrophotography would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. The weather finally cooperated, and we got a quick astrophotography session in. On Christmas Eve what would be a better target than the Christmas Tree Nebula NGC2664. A lot more data is needed to bring out all the colors and nebulosity and we will be adding to this as time allows. Again Merry Christmas may you all have a wonderful and joyous one.

Hasn't been many good viewing nights over the last few months. The equipment has undergone all needed repairs and updates, so after getting it set back up we had 2 good nights. Here are a couple of pics from the getting it up and running sessions, hope you enjoy. We are getting back into good viewing season, so we will be working on some DSO's that are more of the advanced astronomers base.

Pastimes Stargazing has indefinitely suspended ALL stargazing with our equipment. The Astronomy area/field is open to all guests to bring their own equipment. You are welcome to bring chairs or a blanket and sit out and look up to the heavens, if you don't have equipment a set of binoculars is a good alternative as you can see some of the closer galaxies and nebula like Andromeda or Orion. A phone app like Starwalk 2 can take the place of an Astronomer to help you find things to see. Once Guidelines change we may re-address the weekly and private gazing, we will announce if we do.

This page is dedicated to the stargazing and astrophotography program @ Okefenokee Pastimes

We decided to create a dedicated website and FB page so as not to overburden the campground’s website and FB page with posts. The website

https://pastimesstargazingstays.wordpress.com/

and the FB page will not only be sharing our photos and special events but will also in the near future be used to book your stay and stargazing experience, your astrophotography sessions as well as lessons we will be providing, special stay packages that will include the previously mentioned as well as special diner packages and sunset/night tours of the Okefenokee on full moon and special astrological events. These will be starting early in 2019.
