For many Kentuckians—especially in rural communities—home health care is a lifeline. It allows seniors, individuals with disabilities, and those recovering from illness or injury to receive skilled care in the comfort and safety of their own homes.
Yet Kentucky Medicaid reimbursement for home health services has not increased since 2005. For more than 20 years, providers have faced rising costs for staffing, travel across rural counties, medical supplies, and technology—while reimbursement has stayed the same.
Without action, access to home health services in rural Kentucky is at risk. When agencies cannot keep up with costs, patients may lose the option to remain at home and instead face hospital or facility care—often at a much higher cost to the healthcare system.
Home health saves money, supports families, and keeps patients where they want to be—at home.
We encourage you to contact your state legislators and ask them to support increased Kentucky Medicaid funding for home health services. Rural Kentuckians deserve access to quality care close to home.
