Hayswood Home Health wanted to say thank you again to Savage Valley Health, who through the Kathleen Savage and Louis Nulton Browning Fund, awarded a grant in the Autumn of 2023 to allow Hayswood to make much needed structural repairs to our Flemingsburg branch office. We are happy to share that all the work has been completed and share some pictures of how we look now. These repairs help ensure Hayswood can continue providing care from our Flemingsburg site for years to come.

Alpha-gal Syndrome is caused by tick bites. In the United States, AGS is primarily associated with the bite of a lone star tick, and less commonly by the bite of a blacklegged tick or a western blacklegged tick. In other countries, other tick species have been linked to AGS. In the United States, not every person bitten by a lone star, blacklegged, or western blacklegged tick will develop AGS.

While people of all ages can develop AGS, most cases have been reported in adults.

Most reported cases of AGS in the United States occur in South, East, and Central states. These are the areas where most lone star ticks are found.

On June 30th, 2025, health officials announced that a measles outbreak that started in Woodford County has spread to Fayette County. A total of five measles cases have been reported in the Commonwealth in the past week. Three of the cases are in Woodford County and one is in Fayette County. One additional case, in Todd County, appears to be unrelated to the Woodford and Fayette County cases.
Updated information about measles in Kentucky is available at: www.chfs.ky.gov/agencies/dph/dehp/idb/Pages/measles.aspx

Measles is a highly contagious respiratory virus that can cause serious health complications, especially in young children. Vaccination is the best protection against measles. Immunization against measles comes through the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine. The total number of measles cases in the Commonwealth this year is now seven. These cases occur in the midst of global outbreaks of measles, including in Mexico and Canada, and the largest outbreak of measles in the United States since measles was declared eliminated in the U.S. in 2000.

We have heard from patients in recent weeks who are concerned about the upcoming proposed Medicaid budget cuts and what we think might happen to their coverage, and if Home Health Benefits will be affected....and unfortunately we also don't know what will happen. Currently 15% of patients we serve depend on Medicaid. Because of the discussion and concern around this topic, we want to share the advocacy link from the Kentucky Home Care Association for those who want to contact their representatives:

Dear IAHHC Members,It is a critical time in the Congressional Budget process - and we need your voices to be heard.Congress is moving swiftly on the reconciliation package, and the House Energy & Commerce Committee is starting to consider key...
