Did you know that pet therapy provides many advantages for patients, including emotional uplifting, social connections and physical benefits? Pet therapy is a guided interaction between patients and a trained animal, making patients feel loved and less stressed.

As part of our therapeutic programming, we are committed to providing our patients with therapies that will assist them both emotionally and physically. Through our partnership with Pet Partners, we bring in therapy animal teams for meaningful visits with our patients. These furry visitors bring so much joy, comfort and companionship to our patients, creating moments of happiness that brighten their day! We’re proud to offer this special program that enhances the well-being of our community.

The Village of Forest Park held its annual Juneteenth Flag Raising Ceremony earlier this month. Our leadership team along with local officials, organizations and residents met in the Village Hall parking lot to watch as elected officials hoisted up a flag in honor of Juneteenth. Against the backdrop of the village hall, the Juneteenth flag ascended, its vibrant colors symbolizing freedom, resilience and the enduring struggle for equality. What an honor to be present!

This month we recognize the impact that LGBTQIA+ individuals have had on our collective history. Celebrations, workshops, concerts and memorials are held during this month to recognize the positive impact that LGBTQIA+ individuals have on our society.

However, more work needs to be done. LGBTQIA+ individuals face stigma, discrimination and a greater risk of harassment and violence. As a result, they are at an increased risk for various behavioral health issues. Similarly, transgender children and teens have higher levels of depression, suicidality, self-harm and eating disorders.

Help is available. We provide encouragement, acceptance and support with inclusive mental health programs. Call us at 708-209-4181 or visit riveredgehospital.com to learn more. We are here for you.

We continued our festivities with a Billy Bricks Wood Fired Pizza Truck for staff to enjoy. It was wonderful to see everyone outside socializing with big smiles on their faces!

And, as always, thank you to our amazing and dedicated staff who provide kind, compassionate service to our community. All day, every day of the year, we celebrate you!
