We can impact someone life with art and love. Today is World Su***de Prevention Day. According to WHO, nearly 800 000 people give up on their lives by su***de every year. Furthermore according to stats, for each su***de, there are more than 20 su***de attempts.
One way that we can use art as therapy is in the prevention of su***de. According to the American Art Therapy Association: we can help calm and redirect suicidal individuals if we introduce “introduce self-soothing and sensory-based experiences [and] help [contributors] identify specific and tangible coping mechanisms and activities to decrease anxiety” (2017).
We understand that the job alone maybe to much for us here at Canvas Junk, but we are dedicated to utilizing all types of art as a tool to help the people in dis-invested communities cope and live prosperous lives.
