The Senate Appropriations Committee today approved a key provision in the FY26 Defense Appropriations bill that would, for the first time, make gambling addiction an eligible research topic under the Department of Defense’s Peer-Reviewed Medical Research Program (PRMRP).

The decision marks a historic breakthrough in recognizing gambling disorder as a behavioral health issue impacting active-duty servicemembers and veterans.

Due to last week’s high winds, mosquito control operations in Forest Park have been rescheduled for tonight, Monday, August 4, between 8:15 PM and midnight, weather permitting.

This treatment is in response to elevated West Nile Virus activity in the area. To help protect public health, residents are encouraged to stay indoors during the treatment window when possible and to remove any standing water from their property. 🦟
