Ronda (Shelly) Thompson is a dedicated and experienced Nurse Practitioner currently serving patients at Eastern Oklahoma Health Clinic in McAlester, Oklahoma. She began her career in healthcare in 1989 as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Atoka Manor. From 1993 to 1994, she continued her work in patient care at Ruth Wilson Manor and in Home Health services in Coalgate.
In 2000, Shelly earned her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification and later completed her Associate Degree in Nursing in 2005 from Murray State College. She spent the next 13 years serving as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Room at Atoka County Medical Center, gaining extensive experience in acute care and emergency medicine.
Committed to advancing her education and clinical practice, Shelly obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Panhandle State University in May 2019. Shortly thereafter, she enrolled in the Family Nurse Practitioner Program at Maryville University in St. Louis, graduating in December 2021. She passed her national certification exam just two weeks later and began her career as a Nurse Practitioner in January 2022, working alongside Dr. Richard Helton at Southeastern Oklahoma Medical Clinic before joining Eastern Oklahoma Health Clinic.
Shelly is married to Randy Thompson and is the proud mother of six children and grandmother to 19 grandchildren. She brings both compassion and deep clinical knowledge to her practice, serving the McAlester community with dedication and heart.
