Every behavior is trying to tell us something. 💙
Functional Communication Training (FCT) is one of the most powerful strategies in ABA therapy — and one of the most important things families can understand.
Instead of focusing on stopping a behavior, FCT focuses on replacing it. We teach children to communicate their needs in a way that works — whether that’s through words, gestures, pictures, or a communication device.
When a child has a reliable way to express themselves, everything shifts.

This month, our team in Laredo had the opportunity to attend Light It Up Blue 💙 in celebration of Autism Acceptance Day.
 
The event was hosted by Families for Autism Support and Awareness and brought together families, organizations, and nonprofits from across the community.
 
It was a meaningful day where children were able to have fun and play together, while parents had the opportunity to connect with organizations that provide support and services for the autism community.
 
We’re grateful to be part of a community that continues to create spaces for connection, support, and acceptance 🤍

Independence is built through intentional, structured support.✨

In ABA, we use a prompt hierarchy to guide learning—starting with the level of support each child needs, then gradually fading prompts over time to promote independent responding. Each step is purposeful, helping skills transfer beyond guided sessions.

Because meaningful progress means responding with confidence—on their own.
