Our Hidalgo County EMC, Chief Saldaña will join the Ellie Torres Talk Show this Wednesday, March 4th to discuss what families in our County need to know as we head into spring and prepare for hurricane season.

Beginning September 1, 2026, all nurses will be required to upload their completed CEs into a digital tracking platform prior to license renewal. A license will not be eligible for renewal until all CE requirements have been met. The Texas Board of Nursing is in the process of selecting a tracking platform vendor and will send out updates and instructions as they become available.

Please note that CNE hourly requirements have not changed.

How to Prepare:
• Start collecting copies of all CEs now so you are ready to upload once a platform opens!
• Take CE courses from reputable providers who are on the Board-recognized CE provider list.
• Check that you meet all CE requirements, including targeted CE (See Board Rule 216 for more information).

The Texas Board of Nursing (BON) has received reports of a fraudulent phone scheme targeting nurses. Scammers are calling nurses, falsely claiming they are under investigation by the Board or that someone is using their credentials. The caller’s phone number may show as the BON’s main number on Caller ID, but these calls are NOT from the Board.

*REMEMBER: The Board will NEVER notify licensees of complaints or investigations by phone.

If you receive a suspicious call: Do not disclose any personal details. Collect as much information as you can about the caller, including any texts or written communication you receive. Get the caller’s actual phone number (not a spoofed/faked number).

If you think you’ve been targeted, please report it using the following resources:
• Report the attempted fraud to the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. For more information, go to https://oig.hhs.gov/fraud/report-fraud/index.asp, and
• Contact the Office of Consumer Protection (OCP) for the Attorney General of Texas. Visit https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/consumer-protection/phone-mail-and-fax-scams/how-spot-and-report-phone-scams for more information on phone scams and to file an Online Consumer Complaint.
