We are proud to recognize our two incredible physicians serving the South Texas region! 🌟 Thank you, Dr. Bernini, Dr. Eraña, and every latino physician for your dedication, compassion, and hard work. Happy National Latino Physicians Day! 💛
🎉 Today is National Latino Physician Day — a time to honor Latino physicians at Texas Children’s Cancer & Hematology Center and across the country.
This observance falls during Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from mid-September to mid-October — making today especially meaningful.
Latinos make up 19% of the U.S. population, but only 6% of physicians are Latino. This gap serves as a reminder of the ongoing need to foster greater representation and opportunity within the medical field. Latino physicians play a vital role in building trust and delivering culturally and linguistically concordant care.
“Representation matters — not just in numbers, but in the relationships we build and the care we provide. Our Latino physicians bring essential perspectives that strengthen our ability to provide the best care possible to children and families,” says Dr. Will Parsons, Interim Director of Texas Children’s Cancer & Hematology Center.
📸 We invite you to share stories that reflect your gratitude for their service and impact at the Center.
