Nurses Week was an all-out celebration filled with gifts, games, and treats for our best-in-class nursing team at the Alfredo Gonzalez Texas State Veterans Home!

We enjoyed a BBQ, pizza party, and a taco truck with lots of delicious food. Also, we had giveaways for personalized 40 oz water bottles, nurse pins for their lanyards, nurse t-shirts, notepads/pen, and lunch boxes!

Special thanks to our dedicated team of nurses and those who prepared meals and snacks to make our nurses feel appreciated and loved.

Texans, let's show some love to our Veterans this Valentine's Day! ❤️

Commissioner Buckingham is encouraging everyone to participate in the VLB's "Valentines for Vets" campaign.

Help us honor and show our appreciation to the brave men and women who served our country by mailing a Valentine's card to the Veterans who reside in any of the 10 Texas State Veterans Homes.

All cards should be postmarked by February 10th and include 'Valentines for Vets' in the mailing address.

We had a very special Valentine's Day here at the Alfredo Gonzalez Texas State Veterans Home!

We were blessed to have Mercedes Students from the Transition Academy and ACE Program collaborate with the Mercedes American Legion and the American Red Cross to make valentines for our Veterans.

Thank you to The Marine Corps League for sponsoring our luncheon and all of the local flower shops for donating beautiful bouquets of flowers.

Also, special thanks to Miss Mexico, St. Joseph’s Church in Edinburg, and the Sand Devils Motorcycle Club for participating in our celebration.

In total, we received over 3,000 Valentine's Day cards from across the country! We appreciate everyone who took the time to send some love to our Veterans.
