Happy National Sports Day from McAllen Transitional Care Center! š
Sports and movement are powerful tools ā not just for athletes, but for everyone on the recovery journey. Today, we celebrate the spirit of play, strength, and perseverance ā and the vital role that physical therapy, occupational therapy, and rehabilitation play in helping people āget back in the game,ā no matter their age or condition.
Here are some fun facts & stats that highlight the connection between sports and rehab:
In a recent review of sport-related orthopedic injuries, therapeutic exercises were used in 87.5% of patients, manual therapy in 72.2%, and 86.1% of patients reported pain reduction ā showing how rehab interventions help athletes recover and return to activity.

Out of those same patients, 63.9% successfully resumed athletic activities.

The knee is the most commonly affected joint in sports injuries (ā 30.1%), followed by shoulders and ankles.
