Leticia was admitted to a local hospital in McAllen, Texas, after suffering trauma that caused an acute intracranial hemorrhage; a sudden bleeding within the skull. As her condition worsened, Leticia was placed on a ventilator to support her breathing. After several weeks of hospitalization and making steady progress, her medical team decided to transfer her to Solara Specialty Hospital McAllen for extended medical care, including ventilator weaning, physical and occupational therapy.

Before her admission to Solara, the care team thoroughly reviewed Leticia’s medical history and designed a personalized care plan tailored to her needs. Upon her arrival, she was immediately transferred to the ICU. Though alert upon admission, Leticia was dependent on the team for all her care needs. Despite her challenges, Leticia remained hopeful about her recovery. Following her care plan, Leticia began participating in respiratory exercises guided by her pulmonologists and the respiratory therapy team. These active breathing exercises aimed to improve her lung function and capacity. With consistent effort and dedication, Leticia made remarkable progress, and within a few weeks, she successfully weaned off the ventilator, regaining the ability to breathe on her own.

The next phase of her recovery was focused on rehabilitation due to the extended time she had been bed-bound. Leticia took part in the early mobility program, which was crucial in helping her regain strength and independence. Her physical therapy included progressive mobility exercises, such as bed-to-chair transfers and assisted standing, utilizing equipment like parallel bars and a rolling walker. Occupational therapy sessions focused on helping Leticia relearn daily activities (ADLs), such as dressing and grooming while incorporating adaptive tools to enhance her recovery.

During her final week at Solara, Leticia’s progress accelerated. She was able to perform general ADLs and transfers with minimal assistance and walked a distance of 75 feet with the aid of a rolling walker. Leticia also passed all the goals outlined in her care plan, marking a significant milestone in her journey. Leticia transitioned to a lower level of care, where she continues her rehabilitation and strength training to further improve her mobility and independence. From the entire staff at Solara, we wish Leticia all the success in her recovery.

Sol, a vibrant and engaged member of the community, found himself facing unexpected challenges when he underwent scheduled heart surgery. What was initially anticipated as a brief hospital stay transformed into a prolonged period of bed rest due to unforeseen medical complications. Once his heart condition improved, the decision was made to transfer him to Solara Specialty Hospitals – McAllen for extended medical care and advanced rehabilitation.

Upon admission at Solara, the care plan crafted for Sol was meticulous, tailored to his unique medical condition, with the primary goal of facilitating extensive and rigorous rehabilitation. Given the complexities of Sol's health and his recent heart surgery, the interdisciplinary team recognized the need for a gradual and measured approach to rehabilitation. They carefully orchestrated a plan, ensuring a moderate pace to prevent overexertion and additional complications. Embracing this care plan, Sol collaborated tirelessly with the rehabilitation team, consisting of dedicated professionals in physical therapy and occupational therapy.
