[5pm Tuesday, July 2, 2024] Beryl is still a powerful Category 4 Hurricane with winds of 155mph. The storm is about 1800 miles ESE of the Valley and is moving toward the WNW at 22mph. The cone of uncertainty now covers all of deep South Texas, including the RGV. Remember, the cone is an indication of uncertainty in the forecast. The center of the storm is likely to be in that cone (not necessarily in the center where the icon is located) with impacts being felt well outside the cone. It's still too early to say what the impacts on the Valley will be, but this is a great time to review your family's hurricane plan just in case Beryl - or any other tropical system this season - approaches the area.
