St. Luke’s McCall Foundation recently hosted a heartfelt celebration to dedicate the new Healing Garden and unveil the “Shelter” sculpture at St. Luke’s McCall.

This beautiful garden was made possible through the generosity of Dr. Ed Droge and is dedicated in memory of his late wife, Mary Lou Droge. Designed as a peaceful space for reflection and renewal, the garden welcomes patients, visitors, and staff with its vibrant array of flowers and plants, along with a soothing water feature.

The event also marked the unveiling of Shelter, a powerful sculpture by artist Benjamin Victor. Commissioned through the generosity of Maureen O’Keeffe-Wing and Vern Wing, Victor sought to capture the essence of healing and care—the universal touch offered by caregivers throughout life. The sculpture bears the inscription:

“Offered to uplift the spirit and inspire healing for all who pass through these doors.”

Dr. Caitlin Gustafson named Idaho Academy of Family Physicians – Physician of the Year!

She was honored at the IAFP Annual Conference held at the Shore Lodge on Saturday, May 17.

Throughout her 20 plus year career at St. Luke’s McCall, Dr. Gustafson has served the community’s health care needs by practicing full-spectrum family medicine in the clinic, hospital, emergency department and is a leader in obstetrical care. She is currently serving as the St. Luke’s McCall Chief of Staff. She also teaches and precepts medical residents and students who complete rotations in McCall.

Dr. Gustafson was nominated by Dr Abby Davids Full Circle Health program director who shared:

“Dr. Gustafson makes me proud to be a family physician and inspires me every single day. She’s an incredible physician. As a broad-spectrum family doc there is no issue she cannot handle and no clinical space she doesn’t thrive in. She’s extremely knowledgeable and skilled and compassionate and kind. She is the physician we all strive to be, and the person we all wish our family members had access to in times of crisis.

“Caitlin is also a powerful advocate for vulnerable and marginalized patients and for our profession at large. She has consistently stood strong for our patients in Idaho. She remains our steady and capable leader and our rock in the face of adversity. She leads. She inspires. She cares. She reminds us all of the good in the world and our important collective work to be done together. She brings people together, builds others up, and always leads with kindness.”
